    I live in the city and know someone who goes to this guy.

    I think the reaction to the pictures is just that it comes off as a bit narcissitic.

    It's great to have a pic of him on the About page, but I'd rather see pictures of the CLIENTS that he has "transformed" on all the other pages.

    He's offering a service, and visitors who might be curious about going to him would like to see more results, and less pictures of the stylist.

    If he insists on having multiple pictures of himself, put them ALL in the About section and use thumbnails so people can decide whether they want to see more images of him in different outfits.

    But otherwise, focus on the clients--besides, putting well-shot photographs of beatiful, real women on a fashion-oriented site is never a bad idea.

    If he can't afford to have real clients shot professionally, crib some stock photography until he can, and update the site periodically.

    Once you have a library of real client images built up and used throughout the site, you can have them randomly appear on each page to keep the site looking fresh -- and maybe have a short quote from each one about how he's transformed their lives, as he claims.
