    Just ordered Thinkpad T40p (2373G1U).

battery lasts for around 7 hours (tested by anandtech, not IBM's numbers) due to a higih compacity battery and new centrino CPU.

Benchmarks place it above a 2.4 Ghz. P4 Desktop. Video card is 64 meg ATI 9000 Fire GL (OpenGL workstation class card officialy certified by 3dsmax, softimage, etc... Has overlay support and so on).
The thing weighs 4.9 pounds, is a inch thick, and is supposedly as durable as a tank. Comes stock with 512megs ram, 5400 RPM HD, USB 2.0, Bluetooth, a/b wifi, SXGA+ screen etc. In my eyes (or rather on paper) this looks like the best notebook I have seen to date, period, and should be more than ample to work with design on.

I had a TiBook previous to this, but found it to be very underpowered, and delicate (flimsy - I dont care how strong titanium is, this notebook is not durable). The screen was beautiful, but scratched easily because of the notebooks build (when you close the lid, the screen presses against the keyboard and trackpad). I did however love OSX.
