no kidding.. .something smells filthy here - I wouldn't oblige to making any formal contract... and I'd also perhaps give them a friendly 'threat' by way of questioning their purpose for a contract...
... DON'T LET THEM FUCK YOU... for $500... it sounds like they already have and they're going to now get shadier. I'm tired of designers LETTING themselves get taken advantage of! why? I really don't give a shit if you want to work for free... BUT I DON'T.
