(Jul 2 05, 19:27)i watched a father, daughter and son trying to survive in a nightmare of a situation. watched them go from one intense setup to even worse- and saw each character turn.
it was thick with suspense, horror and subtext. for me anyhow.
i love the idea of just taking a snapshot out of peoples lives- epseically in such an extraordinary circumstance. there was no need for a complex story.
maybe that is why i dug the film so much- is that it was just that. BAM have a few days in this crazy alien war via the eyes of a father. period.
most of the best (american) genre films are like this- ie alien, the shining, bladerunner etc.
simple concepts/stories made entertaining.
