Never ever burn your bridges, even if you don't like them, always have an option. As was mentioned, you never know if that big job in the future might be one where it's a friend of theirs for example.
Don't you have a contract with a defined notice period? If so, give that, if you don't, give them what you think is a reasonable period (I'd suggest a month to 6 weeks is fair).
