Cragslist is great.
EBay is okay.
But yes, you're right - I mean use ebay watches to get a sense of what the market is like for dual-proc G4s [which seems like a perfect machine for your purposes, definitely go dual and max out the RAM] and then either buy on ebay from a REPUTABLE seller or check cragslist, or the paper.
I do agree with whomever said its better to see the seller of a used machine's face. that being said, I bought a new sony laptop on ebay last week and got one new in box for -600 retail, slightly under the ebay market, which has already gone up a couple hundred bucks. seems if I want one, so do a million other wackos.
