good choice on giving it for free. I do wish they'd make a Windows flagship phone (I pray HTC's M9 runs Windows from the start..been holding out for a new phone)

does windows render fonts nicely yet? or does it still look like the 90's?
- watcha mean?mekk
- Haha. So true. Legit question.monospaced
- have you two looked at windows since XP?mekk
- I run windows 7 on two machines and it antialiases like a piece of shit compared to osxmonospaced
- It's a joke.monospaced
- you can adjust the aa? maybe if you choose screen-optimized fonts?mekk
- small type sizes look shit sometimes - the rest no different from macfadein11

Why on earth would I want to stream a 720p/20fps game from an antiquated xbox one to a PC, Microsoft?
MS, please do not bring your own fucking bloatware OS like OSX. I don't want all your fucking features, your shitty mail apps and your faulty, expensive, DRM-contamitated streaming fuckshit stuff. Do it like you always did and give me a good, lean OS. Everything else is already covered by very good third-party apps I choose for myself. Big thanks.

Does it fix more or break more?

I predict the rise of Windows riding the wave of coming 90s nostalgia

I wish they didn't bring back the start bar. I liked the metro launch doc from the win key. But than again im on 7 still using quick launch instead of pins. I just like the idea of a full page selection instead of a small area in the left hand screen for non essential apps and controls
- Die, die, die!
Metro overlay is a redundant f'ng messdetritus

Does anyone know if Windows 10 Home will support more than 16GB of RAM? Does Microsoft still expect me to PAY for Pro so I can use all of the hardware I have installed? This is 2015.
- er, just download the 64 bit version?
What do you mean?detritus - In all previous versions of Windows, only the Pro editions support more than 16GB of RAM, even if you have more installed (I have 32GB).monospaced
- Because I'm running Windows Home Premium, my upgrade is to Windows 10 Home, not Pro.monospaced
- Now, I'm trying to figure out why there are two versions of Windows 10 when it's a FREE upgrade. Also, will the Home edition support more than 16GB of RAM?monospaced
- and detritus is saying that it should only be a matter of if you install the 32 bit or 64 bit version. takes 64 bit to support more RAM.sarahfailin
- Totally, I get it. I am running a 64-bit version of Windows 7, and it will not utilize more than 16GB or RAM, which is why I asked.monospaced
- right you need to get the 64bit versionuuuuuu
- so, wait, will it support 16GB of RAM?!?!?!doesnotexist
- so, wait, what year is it?!?!?!?!nb
- as if what I asked was in any way stupidmonospaced
- er, just download the 64 bit version?

Mono, re: Memory.
I had no idea that home and pro editions bothered limiting maximum memory. Seems a bit shittily arbitrary.
Anyway, looks like you're all good..
- Nice, thanks! And yes, the RAM limiting did always feel a bit shittily arbitrary.monospaced
- its not arbitrary its how bits work. read the graph in the link you posted you'll see the limits have to do with 32-64 bit versions.uuuuuu
- there is a 128g ram limit on windows Home 64bit. i think pro has more to do with networking than anything.uuuuuu
- With windows 7 the home edition limited to 16 gb even on 64 bitmonospaced
- didn't know that. i have win 7 64 pro and never thought about it :Puuuuuu
- they changed it in 10 though i guessuuuuuu
- I have 32GB installed on my iMac, and when I went into Windows 7 (bootcamp) it only recognizes 16GB, which tipped me off.monospaced
- I'm glad that Windows 10 will recognize it all.monospaced
- cool story, brodoesnotexist
- My Windows 7 never had a problem recognizing the 32gb, must just be you mono ;-)formed
- Haha. You had the Pro version I guess.monospaced
- Pro's still limited versus Enterprise. Not that it matters on the scale we mortals have our memory at.
Surprised Mono doesn't have Pro version though, tssk!detritus - Pro version was WAY too expensive. I had to buy the OEM version, and wasn't going to pay $200+ for an OS.monospaced

I upgraded my work computer to 10 today with the free upgrade. Took about an hour. So far does not seem like better user interface than 8.1. Can only use Bing search engine which pops up on "Edge" AKA the new Explorer-- even though Chrome is my default browser.
Windows, let google be the wind in your sails, stop trying to fight it. The more you let me use google, the more I will like you.

Since I upgraded I hear my exhaust fan in my laptop spinning relentlessly. Maybe it's still working on the update. Hope this isn't permanent.
- It's probably building an index of your files. Should quiet down after a while.monNom
