‘Forty Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan,’ Mr Trump said erroneously on 9/11. ‘Now it’s the tallest.’

- He did say that he was there helping folk out, what a mad bastard. Steve Buscemi did actually lend a hand, because he's a decent human being.PhanLo

I watched this yesterday and hadn't seen it before. It was good timing after seeing an old clip of Donald Trump on 9/11/01 on tv, opining like an idiot on various things:
1. The buildings had the frame on the outside and were made of steel, which should have been strong enough to withstand an impact like that. (in reality, the steel exterior was largely decorative; the building was still supported and built around a central frame made of solid steel.)
2. There must have been bombs involved because how could the planes explode like that, and the exterior should have been strong enough to not let the planes just slice through like that. (in reality the planes had enough fuel to fly to the west coast, and they were traveling over 400mph into the buildings)Pretty good demonstration of real factors involved. I thought the fuel distribution as the fuel tanks split open was interesting.

- this is a great resource, goes point by point:
https://www.nist.gov…_niko - Planes explode when they crash into solid steel and are fully fueled. No way windows would stop a plane. Please MG, don’t go there.monospaced
- The exterior of these buildings is glass and framing. Not a single one is designed to stop a passenger jet flying at 200mph fully loaded with people and fuel.monospaced
- The center core of steel and concrete holds the building up and absolutely stopped the planes in their tracks. Everything after makes sense.monospaced
- Surely someone here will call me silly names for writing this, but that’s okay.monospaced
- Mono, I think you're interpreting my post in the opposite way. Re-read what I wrote. I'm saying that TRUMP thought this.mg33

- lol imagining a jet plane bouncing off the facade because it's *check notes* made from steel and glass.face_melter

Several buildings in the World Trade Center complex and surrounding areas were damaged or destroyed on September 11, 2001. The fate of each building depended on its distance from the Twin Towers, its construction type, the amount of debris it was subjected to, and other situational factors. Here's a breakdown of some of the significant buildings:
World Trade Center Towers (WTC 1 and 2): These were the primary targets of the terrorist attacks, and both buildings collapsed within hours of being struck by the hijacked planes.
World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7): As discussed, this 47-story building collapsed due to uncontrolled fires initiated by debris from the collapse of WTC 1.
World Trade Center 3 (WTC 3, also known as the Marriott World Trade Center Hotel): This 22-story building was located between the Twin Towers and was severely damaged by debris when they collapsed. The remnants of the building were subsequently demolished.
World Trade Center 4 (WTC 4, also known as the South Plaza Building): This 9-story building was severely damaged by the collapse of the South Tower. The remnants were later demolished.
World Trade Center 5 (WTC 5): This 9-story building suffered a severe fire and partial collapse but remained standing.
World Trade Center 6 (WTC 6, the U.S. Customs House): The 8-story building had a massive hole created by falling debris from the North Tower, and it was subsequently demolished.
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church: This small church was completely destroyed by the collapse of the South Tower.
Bankers Trust Building (130 Liberty Street): This building was heavily damaged by debris from the collapse of the Twin Towers but did not collapse. It was later demolished due to concerns about its structural integrity and the difficulty in repairing it.

I don’t want this to get lost in the post comments to my post down below about what Trump said. Go listen to this. What an absolute clown.
