If you want to be brave, carry a sword. Any dbag can buy a gun at walmart.

  • benfal990

we should destroy all the weapons on Earth and fight with our hands. Everyone would learn martial arts. Iam learning kung-fu self-defense since november and I am already a killing machine. I can break your skull before you know it.

these are the people that we are supposed to trust with an instrument of death. I guarantee all of these people claim 'to have gun training' or 'experience'.

    Seriously...

Do the Second Amendment gun nuts really think that "Open Carry" rifles, hand guns or even AK-47 and other military style weapons could fend off....any trained military with Apache helicopters, hellfire missles, fighter jets carrying 10,000 lbs. of ordinance, stealth bombers, tanks, nuclear weapons, etc...

Yurimon, no amount of personal weaponry could stand a chance against a potential tyrannical government's (eg. America's) military.

You cannot be pro-gun, and yet continue to support and be willing to spend a huge portion of our national budget on the military. It would be contradictory to do so, as it goes completely against the argument of bearing arms in order to form a militia. Your militia would be as effective as a preschool classroom in any kind of modern war situation. You might as well be caring squirt guns instead of AK47's.

So..... are you for SIGNIFICANTLY defunding the military? Because as long as the military is as powerful as it is, it doesn't matter if we are disarmed (or armed) "sheep".

You can't have it both ways.

    • That was the original intention. Miltia needs to update then if thats the case.yurimon
    • It always matters if society is armed in a capacity to defend. it makes huge difference.yurimon
    • Militia needs to update?? To match the current technology of the US military???...iCanHazQBN
    • ...Are you out of your mind?iCanHazQBN
    • Good luck suppling your militia with some F-35 jets!!iCanHazQBN
    • I'm sorry but if you think militias can simply "update" to match the capabilities of the US military...iCanHazQBN
    • ... then there's no use debating this topic with you. Your head isn't screwed on correctly.iCanHazQBN
    • 2nd of all 70% of soldiers wont fire on US population.yurimon
    • Tell that to the Japanese Americans that were locked up.iCanHazQBN
    • Soldiers are brought up to be order-taking robots. They follow orders and that's it.iCanHazQBN
    • Besides, 30% of soldiers WILL fire on Americans? That's not exactly a number that benefits your position.iCanHazQBN
    • .. That's a huge percentage.iCanHazQBN
    • Even if the military was down to 30% (hell, even 3%) they would still DESTROY all of your moron militias.nb
    • Even 0.03%. Soldiers are trained, are badass and have way more technology than you. You guys can't even understand the constitution.nb
    • Shit, add drones into the equation and you probably only need like 50 soldiers. Idiot militias are idiots.nb
    • They don't even need soldiers. It's pretty much just pushing a button.iCanHazQBN
    • The body count of the US military would literally be ZERO.iCanHazQBN
  • IRNlun60

The second amendment is pretty clear on militias being regulated. Well regulated militia's are organized at the state or federal level, not by a band of patriotic Americans wanting to rebel against their government. That would be an armed insurrection. The Militia Clause is pretty specific on the powers of Congress over the militias. Article II Section 2.1 of the constitution gives power to the president to be commander in chief of the militias. It's a tough argument to make that the reason the 2nd amendment is there was to prevent tyranny of it's own government, while completely ignoring the laws which regulate the militias.

    • federalist papers. Each state has rules how to do it lawfully you cant just say. I'm militiayurimon
    • words "shall not be infringed". pretty strong wording.yurimon
    • Each state has rules how to do it lawfully is not the same as revolting against the federal government.IRNlun6
    • So no laws against ANY kinds of weapons ownership? What about military grade weapons?ukit2
    • The Supreme Court ruled in DC v Heller that the second amendment means an individual has the right to own firearms. That's what's pretty clear.melq
    • firearms. That's what is pretty clear. Has nothing to do with insurrection.melq
  • ukit20

It's funny how we argue so much about what the Founders Fathers intended. They also believed in keeping slaves and castrating people for being gay.

    • And reloading took a minute and they're be lucky to hit a target even 25ft awaymonospaced
    • monospaced, one page earlier you were advocating for the shooting deaths of children. Kinda makes you irrelevant to the conversation.melq
    • the conversation.melq
    • Haha. That was a Darwinism joke. Nobody is irrelevant. Least of all me or this comment.monospaced
    • This has nothing to do with this comment. I just wanted to remind you that if you act like an asshole in public, people will take notice.melq
    • will take notice.melq
  • deathboy0

Liberals should just say hey if you guy want your rights to hold guns we want gays the right to hold marriage licenses. (Liberals branded as the smart ones right? Figure they open the dialogue.) Easy. Done. Both sides get over their fear of godless buttfuckers bringing about satan or getting hunted by someone from the movie deliverance.

    • They already have gun rights.monospaced
    • A lot of us that self-identify as liberal are for gay rights, gun rights, happiness and being nice to each other. It's not like it's one or the other. Stop drinking the cool-aid.melq
    • it's one or the other. Stop drinking the cool-aid.melq
    • just playing the stereotypical political policy bandwagon game. im sure there is a rep who is an atheist and is gay too.deathboy
  • ukit20

Also almost everyone believes in some degree of "gun control" whether you admit or not...unless you think people should be walking down the street with grenade launchers. The only question is where to draw the line.

    • how many people would really walk down a street with a grenade launcher?deathboy

“Yes you can its called sane society. not issue with guns. psychiatric drugs, bad parenting, education. second of you can control behaivior with drugs. have people be violent so to justify more control once everything percieved or created to go to shit, gov tries to put more control for sake of safety. it never works”

    -yurimon

    - - - - - - - -

You can’t expect a society to be 100% “sane”. You can’t predict what humans are going to do or if they’re going to lash-out. There’s no way you can have that level of surveillance and medical oversight over every single person to ensure they don’t go crazy or enraged in the heat of a moment. But we CAN control guns, so that those who do lash-out can’t fatally hurt others. This is one variable that we CAN control. Guns are tangible thing!... Behaviour is unpredictable.

You want every parent to be a good parent?? How nice, but we can’t expect every parent to be like that! You want every child to receive a good education and have top-notch social services?? Ok, then we have to increase taxes hugely to pay for that. Are you OK with that?

It’s sort of like leaving a vile of poison next to an unsupervised baby. We can’t blame the baby for drinking the poison. What we should’ve done is not leave the poison next to the baby. The poison is the tangible thing. The baby’s behavior is unpredictable. We don’t know if he’s going to drink it or not. All we have to do is take away the vile of poison and the danger is averted.

    - “gov tries to put more control for sake of safety. it never works”
    - Yes it does. It obviously has worked in Europe for a long time.

  • iCanHazQBN0

You want to blame everything BUT the gun. Yet the ONLY common denominator in ALL shootings is............... a gun.

    • +2Al_dizzle
    • Dont forget the Meds...Most shooter are on some medicationyurimon
    • Are you proposing we take away medicine from all people???iCanHazQBN

Personally, I am growing quite tired of the "Guns don't kill..." crap. Seriously, of course they don't...or do they....let's stick every puppet that regurgitates that into a room with a monkey holding a loaded gun, then let's see what they say.

Sadly, this continues to divide the country. I'll carry a gun just to shoot the moron that pulls a gun to "save the day" or be a "hero". I see someone coming towards me or anyone I care about with an AK-47 over their shoulder and I'll shoot first, ask questions later. That, to me, is pretty damn close to assault (wielding an assault rifle in public should never, ever be permitted).

Then there are the morons that advocate everyone carrying. How'd that help the police that were recently gunned down? Uh huh.

I've owned a gun almost my entire life, but I'd gladly hand it over if it meant even the hope of less violence. Nothing scares me more than all these idiots that think they'll be the next John McClane.

  • IRNlun60

It is more than just access to guns. If you look at Switzerland, which has a higher per-capita rate of gun ownership, you still don't see the same level of violence. What they do have is a good medical system, good education, job training programs, less incarceration, good infrastructure, etc... We in the US seem to put little value in treating every American as more than just an expendable money making commodity. I know I'm generalizing but it's not a reach to suggest that we do a shit job at providing good public services. The fact that we collectively reach for more firepower during these events shows that that is how we're accustomed to dealing with violence. Fuck figuring out how to prevent it, let's reload.

    • The Swiss mostly have rifles for hunting. They're not handgun, AK-47 wielding nutcases.iCanHazQBN
    • a better example should be canada not switzerland though,GeorgesII
    • we dont have a lot of guns in Canada. We have hockey sticks thobenfal99
  • formed0

That's a requirement of the gov't, not some insane "gun culture". Further, they are required to have military training.

If you make everyone buying a gun go through that, I'd be much more ok with it. BUT most just think they are "skilled" and can "handle" a real situation. Bullshit.

Make everyone go through a boot camp and we'd see gun ownership drop dramatically. America is far too lazy to actually train and learn how to use a firearm.

    • It's so easy to get a gun in some states something should definitely be done at the federal level.IRNlun6
    • I knew friends growing up in Miami that would buy uzi's at gun conventions. That shit shouldn't be allowed if it still is.IRNlun6
    • Yup, no background checks either (in most states)formed
