    It is more than just access to guns. If you look at Switzerland, which has a higher per-capita rate of gun ownership, you still don't see the same level of violence. What they do have is a good medical system, good education, job training programs, less incarceration, good infrastructure, etc... We in the US seem to put little value in treating every American as more than just an expendable money making commodity. I know I'm generalizing but it's not a reach to suggest that we do a shit job at providing good public services. The fact that we collectively reach for more firepower during these events shows that that is how we're accustomed to dealing with violence. Fuck figuring out how to prevent it, let's reload.
