Having a flat stomach is 90% diet, 8% training, 2% genetics.
In 90 days I went from:
179lbs 20% bodyfat
to
158lbs 12% bodyfatI maybe did cardio a grand total of 8 times, for no more than 30 minutes. My workouts were high intensity for no more than an hour long. Diet was key.
I cut carbs to only my pre-workout and post-workout meals and ate 6 meals a day starting from 7am on, eating every 3 hours.
It's all diet dude.

diet and exercise are a given but nobody has mentioned posture yet. If you make it a habit of keeping your head up, your shoulders back, your lower spine straight, your hips bent and lose your stomach will naturally be drawn inward. Simultaneously the full spectrum of your muscles will be used more often improving your over all physique and stomach.

Full body stretching will help with posture and toning your physique as well. Westernized "yoga" is popular for a reason. You don't have to have a proper practice just do it regularly. I just lay on my back on the ground for a few minutes and do 'reach for the sky' type exercises. There's lots of casual but effective exercises like that.

Cut back on cheese, Bread and beer. Salt as well, which means, no takeaway basically. No ready meals.
Cook tasty food and try not eating a couple of hours before you go to sleep, sleeping's fasting essentially. Then depending on what you do for a living, cut down on breakfast, have a later breakfast, if you're used to having an early breakfast. You don't have to do it everyday, just a couple of times a week.
Exercises well, the quickest way is to do leg raises on a pullup bar, without swinging your legs. Even if you only get a few leg raises at a time, take a 10 second break, and do another few reps. If you can do it with a reverse grip it works well for me. You can setup a pullup bar at home, and work on it for maybe 40 minutes.
There's too much confusion weighing food and all that. But i'm sure it comes down to sugar, bread, too much pasta. Basically eating the same things all the time. Nothing to stop you eating what you like, but just not the same thing, 4 or 5 times a week.

Recently after too much flying, client entertaining, 2 kids and all that, I cut out bread, pasta and rice (their derivatives crisps etc) as well as beer. I don't get too much time to exercise, I play tennis twice a week and walk to work, but I lost 2 stone (28 pounds) in the month I've been doing it. On the whole it's been pretty easy, I miss pizza and beer, but I look better in a pair of shorts and I have a lot more energy.
Gone from 210 pounds down to 180.
I've basically lived off fruit and coffee for breakfast
salads at lunch and meat and veg in the evening, and drink as much wine as I want instead of beer and it worked just fineI didn't really set out to diet as such, but just reverse a trend. I now realise just how much bread I used to eat. toast in the morning, sandwiches and a burgers... That alone has made the difference I think.
I may just keep going and start to do a few weights etc.

no alcohol, sugar drinks, or sugar for that matter for 3 months, more protein, a bit of walking/running.
If you dont have a flatter stomach in 3 months time, after following that guidance, come back to me and i will pay you $50.

No easy way to achieve this.
Planks, trail running (or high core impact cardio), dietary (less beer, carbs), etc.
It takes time; remember it's prime beach season soon...

I would also add that eating the same or similar ingredients consistently when working out allows your body time to adjust how it metabolizes. Your body is designed for some flexibility in what it eats, but that doesn't mean it works the best eating a different kind of food every day. Bring some routine to how you are fueling yourself.
