Interesting look of what's happening to the middle class in Venezuela

@Miguex there has been fake pictures floating around but the evidence of true violence is blatant, there is no propaganda machine to spread bullshit the real photos and videos are there for everybody to see.
That argument is moot.

here's a good example of internet banter

hat are the people of Venezuela upset about?

Shortage of basic goods- there's no flour, oil, sugar, toilet paper, and a whole bunch of other shit.
Extreme devaluation of the bolivar (Venezuelan currency)- on the black market (which is the only market that really matters), one dollar is 86 bolivares. Minimum wage for a full time job is 3200 a month, so like $50. Two years ago it was 9 bolivares to a dollar. Every day, things cost more. About 51% of the country earns minimum wage or less. I teach English and earn 23 bsf. an hour. Fuck that shit.
Insecurity- can't go out without getting mugged, been getting worse and worse. I live in Mérida, which is probably the safest city in Venezuela and it's depressing to see how much my habits have had to change. Used to be I could go out and walk home from the bar, now I have to pay a cab.
Those are the standard issues, Venezuela is very complex. Chavez raised the minimum living to a point where you won't starve or die of medical issues (healthcare is free and decent), but there's very little in the way of opportunities or advancement. Ask university students what their goal is and you'll hear the same thing over and over again, 'get my degree and get the hell out'. It's even more upsetting that there is a super-rich class, made up of families who've been rich forever or of people who got in with the government (which is SUPER corrupt) and are now millionaires (in dollars). Basically, the poverty line has been moved up, but at the detriment of any upward mobility, there is no middle class. Also, many of the programs that keep the poor happy are of the 'give a man a fish', not 'teach him how to fish' variety and are supported by crazy price ceilings and public funds that bleed money due to corruption.

There are photos of one the deaths from today but I won't link to those they are VERY graphic, shot in the head by chavista thugs.

Do you really the opposition needs to spread fake images when we already have 14 people dead this week just on protests? that isn't including common crime.

National Guard destroying private property
- He must be either a CIA agent or an actor contracted by the "neo-fascists". Maduro's guys would never do this. NEVER!oey

I'm reading reports now that the people have captured a cuban citizen wearing national guard uniform, they are trying to get international media to cover this.

[tech rant]
we have to thank the development of technology though, 10 years ago they could have done all these shit without a single video ever landing online, imagine what it will be in 15 years with protesters equipped with google glasses or other gizmos..- yes. lets thank that development together. everybody holding hands together and 3, 2, 1...THANKS!oey

I just stopped by home to grab some food / supplys and take it out to the students in the streets.
The internet service has been intermitent, uploading videos its a pain.
Last night was horrible, no offcials numbers on deads, people reporting several missing.
Goberment sending army forces to Tachira state, internet and power service is shutdown there.
Twitter and some broadcasting apps have been very usefull on spreading info and getting people organized.
Some parts of the capital city remain very calm the whole day, but at night things go wild with the armed groups causing caos and army forces protecting them.
They shooting at buildings, crushing down doors and getting into civil properties.
I will be back later tonite.

The bottom line is that Venezuela has been turned into a new Cuba. There is now food rationing and the people cannot get nutrients. At times waiting an entire day just for a bottle of milk and a loaf of bread. There is starvation because the communist loser has implemented food rationing on the people. The elections were rigged. People were thrown out of opposition polling places, at times beat up and murdered by the infiltrator Cuban military. They infiltrate opposition marches to murder people then blame it was the opposition. Fidel Castro is the one who is running Venezuela but people are getting tired of communist oppression. Enough.

george I know your canadian and it's easy to misrepresent what happening to Venezuela as socialism. Canada may be socialist but it respects private property and freedom of expression. Venezuela on the other hand.....well list is too long to for a post

Nothing clear yet. Supposedly this was planned for later but had to do it earlier due to part of the military bailing out.

More people died, 2 more of my students got arrested, its 4 so far 1 still missing.
How do you tell their family thats fake? The fight its not only on the streets, theres also a media war, its true.
Everyday dozen of pictures and videos flood the social network.
Some of them are either fake or from past events.
I would like to remember everyone something bout Chavez, he knew very well how to influence media.
He was a propaganda monster, and did a very good job capitalizing most of the national media (newspapers and tv channels)
They took over twitter for years, every single political personality have a twitter acc, most of the armed collectives do too.
They managed to create bots that made trending topics w/e they want.
I been asked myself to fake images or documents, dates, stuff like that.
some of the fake images or date are made by them in order to generated false info. People here are not very techy, its hard for
some to realice if an image its really fresh or from past events / another country.
People see some crazy vids from Kiev and think thats happening here in another state. This past 2 weeks goberment blocked the twitter images server for a couple days.
Also some talkie walkie like apps been blocked.
They know the amount of visual evidence its huge. They cant take control over it.Last day Maduro went on national TV again, dancing, celebrating and doing stupid stuff while the people mourns the dead of relatives in the street.
Maybe some of you remember this picture I took myself
I live in a not so wealthy neiborhood, most people here know Im not pro-gov, some are ok with it some are a bit more sensitive.
I coulndt take the risk to go down the street with my camera for a closer look, things were really tense and I cant afford to lose my gear.
It will take me years of saving to get another camera. You guys may want to re-read this old QBN post when Chavez died:
Things went down hill here since that day.
Right now I cant assure there been 10 deads since it all started, there could be way more. Theres people with injures that may not make it.
Im staying home tonite, tomorrow we go out again.

Que mierda esto la puta que lo pario...
Como uruguayo me siento triste e indignado.
Best luck to our venezuelan brothers.
