NYC is a tough city, but if you have a good job already lined up, just do it. That way realtors are happy to deal with you.

I just realized that maybe Chicago's pizza is so much thicker because it's just that much colder... and that's why we have no signature pizza in the NW... there is no real weather

I may have an opportunity in Chicago and was wondering if someone can tell me some good neighborhoods to look at for a family. Not too far out of the city but just to get an idea of real estate...

Hellavalot more agencies and jobs in NYC area -- in case you need to find a new job two months from now. Something to think about.
Cost of Living: You can always live in Brooklyn or Jersey and take the subway or train.
- 20020
New York is a walking city or take the crappy subway that actually takes you everywhere.
Constantly surprised by new things.
If you are worried about living cost, that will be adjusted based on your income. You make more in NY compared to Chicago.
Also, depends on what kind of life you want to lead. If you want that neighborhood that is similar to boston or little outside downtown chicago, no point moving to NY.
- exactly... doubtful the salary would be the same in chicagomonospaced

abortion clinics are packed... if you ever been to one...mostly interracial couples.

its like a conveyer belt of ejected fetuses but you still have to wait for hours...
– yurimon2/2Yeah that's exactly what happens in nyc

Just go for the $ and best opportunity... and move somewhere nice after you save a good amount of $
NY smells like piss and shit when it doesnt rain in the summer.
Cops look at you as $$ for their quotas... NY is a police state... old NY was fun.. NY now is a box with multiple choice and is an illusion of freedom. They are always putting new cameras all the time with a big police fusion center to collect data on everyone built in queens..
Most sane people or wealthy who say they live in NYC. only actually visit NY 1-6 months at time and most happy.
Most people are from somewhere else in nyc. you barely meet anyone who was born here. People are nice but I think other non big cities are nicer...
- You are full of so much nonsense.monospaced
- You own a car in NYC? then shat ap//// new cameras are coming in the subway..yurimon
- first... what the fuck are you talking about, and second, those cameras aren't really a new thingmonospaced

I agree with 2002. If you have or want kids, live in Jersey or the outskirts of Chicago. If not, NY is a more rewarding city.
- No one should live in Jersey. Hoboken is up and coming tho.bainbridge
- i liked Hoboken.sea_sea

I guess the thing that really gets me is the rents and savings. For instance, in NYC 1600 gets you a small 1BR apartment in the upper east side or Astoria. In Chicago, you can get a beautiful 2BR brownstone. And even if you're making high-nineties it's seems like it's less profitable. But, there's tons more opportunity.
- Salary would be higher in NYC though. Salaries are adjusted for the cost of living differences.monospaced
- Why do they just give more money. Do companies make more money?freedom

Ok... I signed in just to say two things. 1. Chicago is cold as balls 2. The average NYC rent is now $3,000 and Brooklyn is now the second most expensive city to live in within the U.S. (Second to Manhattan) I hope you get a bag full of money. In my opinion though... NYC is way nicer than Chicago, if you can afford it.
