Retina display making impossible to design pixel perfect on CS6 Photoshop.
Constantly having to either throw the image in browser to check or using an external non-retina monitor.
Any other solutions?

similar talk but no real solution

Shouldn't have bought retina for your work machine

there is no solution. You're not thinking correctly. Nothing is wrong with the way things are working.
this answer from the link you posted summarize everything nicely.

I don't think using an external non-retina display is a bad solution. In fact, it sounds ideal.

Indeed, that was a mistake but considering that CS6 runs like crap on pre-retina laptops, I didnt have a choice.
- it runs fine on non-retina laptopsmonospaced

or just select image you want to open > get info > check "Open in Low Resolution"
but that defeats the purpose of having a retina display..

Opening in low resolution is same as zooming in 200%. Quite a bit of pixelation.
- but zooming 200% is exactly what a non-retina display would look likemonospaced

- oh well, I thought it wasmonospaced

If everything was dense due to retina, I would be ok with it except that some stuff like browser content display larger with pixelated images and scaling down on your browser does not make a difference.
- monospaced0
Instead of returning it, just keep using a cheap external.

because Apple explicitly coded that content should be displayed at the same size on screen, they are purposedly zooming every image to 200% so that you can see what everyone sees. but the chrome and type render super crisp, because they're created specifically for retina.
anything that can't scale will look more pixelated in a retina screen than in normal one, because they're side by side with crisp content, thus looking shitty, but they are actually like you would see them if on a screen with that resolution. If you want to see things like before, attach a second regular monitor. There is no other solution because there is no problem.

clearly, you don't understand how pixels and monitors work, or don't want to, because it has been explained a lot of times already.

- NOPE. if you dont have one, go try one.2002

this is a comparison of the image you showed, with the PS at 100% and the Browser at 50%. Of course an image upscaled will be pixelated, is that what you're refering to? because the PS one looks really good to me.
I don't have a retina display so, please, to clarify things, can you upload a screenshot of an image at 200% in PS and one in a browser for more accurate image comparison and see if there are differences in the rendering that make them look really different.

Would it be viable option to get a second monitor? seems silly, but it wouldn't be all the time that you'd have to drag the project into it when working at pixel level. and I think it's good to have a very run of the mill, standard monitor. If you have a super contrast monitor, you work is goonna look on nearly everyone else's machine
- he's already using one, I think that's a great solution, better than ditching a great laptopmonospaced
- NOPE. No external.2002

Here is the issue.
If photoshop displayed scaled down image due to pixel density, same image should show up in same scale. But because retina ignores dpi/ppi in the image and only sticks to dimension, the viewing size shows really different.
You should try out a retina with photoshop and browser. It will really confuse the crap out of you.

Other solution is something I used to about 12 years ago....
This would work actually. Will try this at home tonight.

dude, you're not making any sense.
Please, do this for me, because I'm curious.
Open a photo in PS. set zoom to 200%. Take Screenshot.
Open the same photo in Safari. Take Screenshot.
Put them here so we can take a look.- give it up... the only possible conclusion is that Apple sucks shit because of retinamonospaced
