@cbass, it's a game where you build a city by laying roads, zoning areas for residents, shops and industry, and you play mayor as you set taxes, build parks, and watch it grow... there's nothing quite like it

Pissed off with EA's new SimCity DRM? There's a kickstarter campaign for that.
- that looks awfulLlyod
- hahaha, it's in early development I guess, just something I sawmonospaced

detritus, regarding DLC with this game, you said that "All of the default features of previous version" would be in-game purchases. Can you name a few?
I know that expansion packs n' stuff are DLC, but I can't imagine that you'd have to, say, pay for a mayor's house or something that might be required to make progress. What have you come across that makes you say this?
- Exaggeration, how does it work?i_monk
- it's cool to exaggerate, but if you say there is DLC for normal stuff, what are you referring to?monospaced

Small map size apparently is an issue.
But hey, some people here seem to be keen on the idea of 'upgrading' through paid-DLC, so that's all cool.

So, this is apparently the city size:
Looks small to me.
.
Fuck you, EA. Fuck you every which way.
- Sorry, just that block in the foreground of the photo - behind is someone else's city (which is q. cool, admittedly)detritus

the cities don't need to be running simultaneously for services to be rendered from city to city. All the computer cares is if I have a dump in one city or not, fire service in one city or not and if they are connected, they can help each other.
- so it doesn't matter how much room the dump has, or how many fire trucks are available?monospaced

I ended up picking it up, did anyone else?
If so, I was wondering because of the always on internet thing and that we can take advantage of its network / server option and build a private QBN region. There are 3 regions with 16 cities and 4 great works. We could develop one of these if enough people are interested, or something smaller to suit enough interested.
I really like how one city can serve another and that there interaction is expected / intended. It'd be nice to do some planning, share screenshots, and plan our region on the city level before ever breaking ground.
Some cities will be able to mine ore, others dig for oil, etc. up to processing plants that then redistribute manufactured goods from raw or recycled materials shipped from other facilities. It'd be cool to see a thriving ecosystem operating on the region level while we each contribute on the city level.
The game creates a lot of "what ifs", like I wonder if you could create a wind farm of one of the cities to feed the others. With just commercial zoning, the employees working in that region would then shop or go home. (or according to a game tip, stay at a hotel... that would likely pop up in the commercial zone if there was economic prosperity.)
So if anyone's interested, let's swap tips and see what we can create.

The only way I'll ever play this game is if someone cracks it so single player mode doesn't need internet access.
- if they don't update to include this within 3 months, I might not ever buy itmonospaced

When is the mac version out?

I think I actually said more along the lines of "beta testers suspect that certain previously-core features will be upsold as DLC later on", or words to that effect.
i'm not going to go back and search out the various articles I've read, especially from whinging beta testers.
- omg, you're right! I'm sorry, that was i_monk who said thatmonospaced

Someone needs to cross this over with WOW so your sweet little suburban sprawl can be destroyed by monsters.
