Google should fucking stick to their search engine, which is NOT nearly effective as it once was. Google has their hands up everyones elses ass. They have no focus and dozens of failures in the past 5 years, including their beloved search engine becoming "one big white pages" of advertising masked as search results.
- You should get a job at Google so you can help them fix all their problems.nb

It's just the next step in the continuing inevitable shrinking away of the bulky technology leaving just the display/interaction part, and then that shrinks away too until you finally get to the most natural way of overlaying information in your world view that you can imagine:
mainframe > desktop computer > laptop > handheld screens > data glasses > data contact lenses / tiny device > 'bluetooth to brain'
- youngdesigner0
It's the next logical step. Integrating computers directly into people's vision. The next step after that: brain integration. You can see where this is heading..

has been registered by google.how annoying would that be to have to say that every time?
I don't think this will catch on. Too confusing to have a display overlaid over the real word, especially in a busy city. Those jawbone bluetooth headsets never really caught on. People who wear them look like twats. Same will be true for these glasses I think.
Carrying a beautifully designed iphone is one thing. But wearing some nasty looking glasses is one step too far, too much of a barrier to jumping on the band wagon.
- True about iphone/concealable gadgets. It's not a permanent status display/embarrassmen...pig

They won't always look nasty.. when they are done right they will just look like glasses.
When you think about SatNav, it would be way safer to have the path you need to drive on marked directly in your view ahead (like 'drive through the hoops'), rather than having to look at a small screen as we do now.
- having a display overlaid over the windscreen is the worst idea in the world for safety!BaskerviIle

- Drive thru the hoops? You could just have a line or arrows on the road.nb
- Aren't street signs kind of 'overlaid' any way?Chimp
- We could get rid of all the street signs (and traffic lights), if everyone has augmented reality.ribit

the only problem with them is that they're fucking ugly. 80% will not use them based on that. That is why it will fail. Then someone will come, with the same concept, but well done. Then people will use it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissing at the idea, I think this is pretty obvious in terms of future, but they are implementing it wrong as of now. I already have glasses on my head. I CARE a lot about what they look like, and what I look like wearing them. How do I use both? Why can't I add prescription lenses? How can I enjoy a sunny day wearing shades (with prescription lenses too) without looking like a douche from the 90's and use Google Glasses? See, I can't, so can't millions of others out there.
These designs seem pretty final to me, so don't just say they will have other versions on release. This doesn't seems really thought trough to be a hit.- Which is why I think they're essentially GoPro's with an internet connection (in the current iteration)pig

a couple months ago i went to the cinema where they gave me some glasses that projected the text onto the lenses - after wearing them for an hour or so, i think i could see how it could be useful, displaying text, emails, etc.
didnt really think about it till i got up to go to the restroom half way thru the movie, and could keep reading along while outside the theater room.
i'm interested to see where it all goes, but i think they're onto a good thing.

if this is the future... i don't like the thought of kind of Always being connected. reality is well... augmented.
- i_monk0
I wouldn't mind always being connected, I just don't want it to be intrusive. Google is an advertising company. Glass will have ads, and these renderings/videos without ads are deceptive.
Glass will be able to track your eye movements too, and base ads on what you look at, note which ads manage to catch and hold your attention, even superimpose ads on surfaces around you.

What happens when you are in IKEA and you and your girlfriend are trying to decide which table to go for - wood or glass. And the decision is up to you and you say "OK, glass ...."
