Tomorrow I head up to Rose City, MI to try my luck at putting broadheads into deer on 120 acres of private property.
Weather doesn't look too promising for the weekend, but i'll enjoy it regardless.

free diving
scuba diving
canyoning
trekking
sandboarding
mountain boarding
wakeboarding
dogging

This sunday we're going for a week to camp with our caravan to french landes; cycling, long walks, brave beaches and bbq... anything i can't do here (i live near the sea and in the middle of mountains too) but, there is way less humid than here.
At last, my entire month of vacations are going to be reduced to that :(

I wish I learned how to hunt and fish. Unfortunately I lived in NYC.
I do know how to make fire with a bowdrill though.

Not a great list, but a list nonetheless.

So here in Southern California we have the awesome privilege to participate in the niche sport of surf fishing. It's really, 100% the best kind of fishing you can do. A lot of guys do it year round, but I'm a softy and I only go in the warmer months. It basically goes like this:
The fish you're targeting are surf perch, various croakers, halibut, corbina, leopard sharks, the occasional string ray or shovel nose guitar fish, and many, many more.
You use a long-but-light-action steelhead rod with a light spinning reel. Most of the time I kind of carolina rig sand crabs that I dig up at the beach, but you can also use these powerbait plastic lures referred to around these parts as "crack." Clams and ghost shrimp work well too.
I throw on my trunks and flip flops, put what little tackle I need in a backpack and head down to the beach. Wade into about knee deep water and cast out. Slowly retrieve and reel up the slack as the waves wash your bait back to shore.
It's the best. A lot like this photo. When I'm surf fishing life is good.

- You can do this in Aus too...MrT
- do you eat the fish, or do it just for sport?monospaced
- If it's a good fish for eating from clean water I will keep it. Most are caught and released.nocomply
- Catching my dinner is always the goal, rarely the result.nocomply
- yeah dude, love surf fishing.moldero
