I don't understand this thing about getting money from someone after a divorce if they are both finically independent.
It feels very American to 'screw people over' after a divorce.
- pretty simple really. As a couple your assets accumulate over the years. those assets are split equally.when you splitGnash
- so if she had 100K in stocks when they married. If those stocks grew in value, they split the growth. the initial 100K is still hersGnash
- ... is still hers, alone.Gnash

that sucks. just be there for him...whatever he needs you to help him with. (step one) def get him a lawyer if he doesn't have one.

It has been said before, but re-inventing yourself is the best you can do. Just did that myself after a breakup going on for months.

I didn't read the posts, so maybe this has been mentioned before, but I suggest for him to buy 25 cases of organic cucumbers and get a sex change.

What's with the advice about acting like a stupid teenager in response to this? Unless he is a teenager I recommend moving all the cash into a new account, lawyering up like the bejesus, some therapy, some outdoor activities with friends and engrossing himself in an HBO series. Get the idea that she is the enemy in his head FAST.
Coke and Vegas whores are for jumped up retards.

can't top that image up there ^ but, unless she's some conniving bitch, it sounds to me like she was sick and tired of whatever it was he had to say to her. unless he's stupid, he knows exactly why she left. or maybe because he's so clueless is why she is done.
let's face it, it's fuckin hard to live with someone, let alone marry them. i want to here her side of the story. no one just gets up and leaves someone for no good reason.
who knows what kind of stuff went on behind those closed doors. money, sex, emotions, zero communication skills, all kinds of factors. sucks for your friend, especially now that he will have time to think about what really went wrong, unless he's in total denial, which would suck cause if that's the case, the chances are he will go through the same problems in future relationships. growing up is a bitch, but being mature takes balls.
good luck to him, it's the worse feeling to be left with no apparent reason or explanation. no one deserves that.

i have a love/hate relationship with my lady, and either party could of left by now, there have been stupendous fights but are still going.
we've been engaged 4 years now, together 6. there HAS to be a reason as to why she's upped and gone. really really weird circumstances.

i know a couple that is "on the rocks." I'll skip the specifics, but the dude in the relationship has absolutely no idea. The girl talks about it with her gf's, (one of which is my girl so i get to hear all about it). Its definitely possible to be entirely clueless while a storm brews under you. Not being a good decision maker, lack of confidence, complacency and contentedness can kill the attraction and wilt the love. Either the wife at the top of this thread had had enough, or she was a conniving opportunist. Not enough info offered to say which.
