Think it's working better for me to on an iMac just over the cutoff point.
Lion was a bit sluggish at times. My only issue was the scrolling acceleration

This fixes that

Working better for me than Lion. Lion was a POS until I did a clean install. Upgrading to ML though worked fine though. Not a lot of user noticeable details other than notifications though.

After a few solid days of farting around with this thing, it seems a tad slower than snow leopard. I've installed iStat Menu and it lets me know that a process called "mds" (which is spotlight) is running in the background using up 300 megs of ram constantly. It never did that before to the best of my knowledge. Bah.
- That's because it's indexing for the first time, I believe. This allows for real-time search results later on.monospaced
- spotlight might have choked indexing? Is it using any processor?animatedgif
- 300 megs might be vram remember, not real ramanimatedgif

Who knows where I can find a copy of 10.6 Snow Leopard? Because I need it in order to update to Lion and whatever is next. They don't sell it in stores anymore.
- if you have a computer capable of being upgraded to Lion, you should already have itmonospaced
- go to an apple store see if they will upgrade you?ArmandoEstrada
- just make sure you CAN upgrade to Mountain Lion firstmonospaced
- I'm 90% sure I can, it's a MBP from 2008. Still a pretty great machineletterhead

Remove "fatty tabs" from Safari 6:
- Thanks ern. Too late though, I'm already in love with Chrome.CanHasQBN
- Chrome > All other browsers. Period.d_rek
- don't install SIMBL it's a processor eater!mirrorball

Welp. I just switched to Chrome after being a loyal Safari user since it came out.
The predictably of where a tab is going to be is important. I gotta visually reference them quickly.
And in Chrome, I like that if I have a million tabs open, I can still see them all. With Safari, you have to resort to clicking the little dropdown at the edge of the browser to access additional tabs.
- CanHasQBN0
In Safari, they need to put those big tabs at the top of the browser, like in Chrome. It looks redundant to have the title of the page at the top, and then again in the tab, especially when the tabs are so large. It's also a waste of vertical space.
- Good point.Gucci
- <inteliboy
- It looks ridiculous when you just have one tab open. There's no separation between the bookmarks bar & the tab.CanHasQBN
- They tried putting tabs on top briefly and it didn't work well.Nathan_Adams

Looks like Snoop Dogg also got the upgrade.

What's with the giant tabs in Safari 6? So stupid looking when you have two huge tabs side by side like that.
- Agreed. I hope it changes.mg33
- They just keep tinkering with things for no reason.CanHasQBN
- Already got used to it. No big deal.
GRAC - Weird how many times they've tweaked safaris tabs over the yearsanimatedgif
- Probably a usability thing. Can't say I'm bothered at all, but I did notice it.Raniator

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet:
Power Nap
When your Mac goes to sleep, it still gets things done with Power Nap.3 It periodically updates Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Photo Stream, Find My Mac and Documents in the Cloud. When your Mac is connected to a power source, it downloads software updates and makes backups with Time Machine. While all that updating is going on, the system sounds are silent and no lights or fans come on, so nothing disturbs you. And when your Mac wakes up, it’s good to go.
I care not for checking email and so forth, as my ipad and phone do that fine - what I like is the fact that it will back up discreetly even if the machine is sleeping. Would be awesome if dropbox could also take advantage of this feature..

I'm finding it very solid and fast, though I've made the transitions faster in mission control, launchpad etc... taken out all of the silly animations when opening up applications, window sheets etc.

So Safari is one of the best things and I just installed it on my 10.7 work machine. It's in Software Update. That's dope.
- letterhead0
So if i currently have 10.5 installed, I need to buy 10.6, update to 10.7, then purchase 10.8? That doesn't sound very Appley.
- technically you should be able to install on a blank machinemonospaced

- i'm in the same boat and oyu can't get 10.6 in stores anymore. pain in my ass.fiver
