Another dispatch from the mind of sted?

    • you already got burned in your last post, why you need an other one?sted
    • Why would you ever use Scala Sans? Especially in a thread about an elite designer?fate
    • maybe I was working with that font and this shit isn't worth the hassle to change it?
I know it's hard to imagine while you're trying to sell domains.
      sted
    • You need to delete that font.fate

    • Have you really never seen this ad before? Do you pay attention to this industry at all? You really don't get it?fate
    • Look, it pains me to type this...

The logo is rearranged as "FCK" instead of "KFC"

      Do you see it now?
      fate
    • Just google "fck ad", you are seriously in need of catching up with the rest of the industryfate
    • LOL you're dumb af or actually drunk. how the hell did you come to this conclusion? you need to get away from the keyboard seriously.sted
    • You took the time to search out the KFC brand standards manual and quote it, because you completely missed the point.fate
    • And apparently you have never seen an ad that takes liberties with an established brand and was widely praised in both the industry and traditional press for itfate
    • I know this section from the brand book because, I looked it up at the time when that ad arrived. you are dumb.sted

Sted, seriously, if you want us to catch you up on current design trends, we can all pitch in and bring you up to speed.

I'm sure other people on QBN will help you and post links to designers you can study. We can give you a crash course.

    • Sober up. I have work to do and it won't wait because of your drunk nostalgia.sted
    • I can't wait to see the rants you'll write when you discover David Rudnickfate

    • Does Scala Sans allow people to relive their own dreams and get inspired? Just asking...fate
    • If your dream is to land a high-profile client, and all you have to do is to use your skills (what includes writing with the brand's typeface) yeah it does.sted
    • And personally I don't think that Scala inspired anything great in todays designs.sted

Ya'll really needed 20 notes ragging on this?

This is fucking fun and cool and exactly the type of stuff we used to love when Newstoday first started. Charli XCX just the same kind of thing for her new album cover.

Some of you are starting to sound like boring old farts that are more concerned with being professionals and keeping your heads down than taking chances.

    • anything to add or just want to vent? u can call me, i'm here for you ahahaha

Sted look, it's a little sad you thought you needed to take the time and educate Jessica Walsh (or us) on the "damage" she was doing to her own.fucking.brand.

    1) It's her brand, it's her logo, she can do whatever the fuck she wants. If you had even bothered to look at &Walsh's Instagram, you'd see the existing variations on the mark (beyond proportions) and understand. At least, I pray to God you would understand.

    https://www.instagram.com/andwal…

    2) You really couldn't comprehend that breaking rules like this is an extremely popular design trend that positions designers and the brands they work on at the forefront of culture?

Have you missed like the last 10 years, dude? Do you need us to catch you up so you aren't falling behind?

    • eww now you're moving into the redneck category pretty fast, go back and read more of this thread and I hope u will see why you're dead wrong.sted

I think my favorite part of the thread is how some (cannonball1978, robotron3k, NBQ00) keep calling her narcissistic and ragging on her for self promotion.

...when what you really mean to say is that you're mediocre designers that never learned to play the game, and it makes you bitter.

Her name is on the fucking door you little losers. Of course she is going to promote herself.

Legit it's like whining about how narcissistic and what a showboat that Colonol Sanders is and posting long diatribes about how "the chicken should speak for itself"

    • you have no idea how and why
somebodies name gets to the wall.
      sted
    • and that's the main problem that instead of showing off, work, expertise, and experience she can only promote herself :(sted
    • and there is a complete team behind this name not just one person, and yet they still can't produce quality, original materials whatever the context is.sted
    • just sit up on the current hype, subordinate everything to the current trends and build a mediocre self brand.sted
    • Um nope. I'm not a mediocre designer. My opinions are valid. She can do whatever she likes even if its tasteless self serving narcissism, and I can point it outcannonball1978
    • I'm sorry Amman, you're right. You're not even mediocre. You're below-average.fate
    • Using my name isn’t gonna change me thinking it’s all narcissistic. You’ll just have to cope somehow.cannonball1978

Narcissism is a very important skill to have, especially these days. Everything is based on marketing your identity online, the more narcissistic you are the better chance you have to position yourself to be an "influencer". It's sad but it's the place that marketing is at and you might as well embrace it. I would think most designers would already know this and accept it instead of kicking and screaming when a young designer uses it to their advantage.

It's also sad the amount of misogynist comments here about Walsh using her body to get ahead. It's her body, she gets to use it however she wants. A designer doesn't get famous just for being hot.

    • this thread made me learn she likes to pose for pics, pet camels and has a grumpy dog. ;)renderedred
    • If you think that she got where she is today because of her talent and or grit...you are extremely gullible and naive.utopian
    • The 1-2 times she appeared naked for their S&W promotion doesn't even bother me. But look how much she's posing, making portraits of herself...NBQ00
    • ...smells of extreme narcissism. She even got like 5 IG accounts she's curating. And needed an extra one just for her bikini and travel pics.NBQ00
    • As somebody mentioned before with sarcasm, go check out the andwalsh.com website. There's not enough Pics of her on there.NBQ00
    • She's acting as if she's a fucking big name celebrity or even more legendary than Stefan. And as if she started the new agency from scratch which is a lie.NBQ00
    • I'd say 70%+ of why she's well known isn't because of her actual design work but because a) she got associated with a legendary designer.NBQ00
    • b) because of her viral "40 days of dating" project. The rest is just constant average eye-candy work (not bad, never said it was bad) and her posing her looks.NBQ00
    • I could actually appreciate much of their work if it wasn't for her constantly shoving her face up our asses everywhere. The constant attention-seeking is lame.NBQ00
    • this place (qbn) hasn't shut the fuck up about her for days... so she's doing something rightPonyBoy
    • Attention (and some bad PR) from a site or design forum discussions doesn't equal business dollars tho :)NBQ00

    • Narcissism is not a skill. It's a negative character trait. You can market successfully and effectively without narcissism.cannonball1978
    • Her narcissism is a drawback because it upstages anyone getting a sense for if they are a good fit for companies that aren't narcissticcannonball1978
