    Now just "&Walsh":

"Launched yesterday, &Walsh is the new creative agency headed by Jessica Walsh. Previously a partner with Stefan Sagmeister, operating as Sagmeister & Walsh, for seven years, the new firm is a continuation of the evolution of that firm that will maintain the 25 people that were there prior to the name change, minus Sagmeister who is withdrawing from commercial work to focus on personal work (not just a sabbatical as he has done in the past but for good). Based in New York, NY, &Walsh will focus on branding and advertising, kicking things off with their own identity."

monNom and you’re right, it’s not even that new of an idea.

Male business leaders, athletes, artists have talked themselves up and done wild self promotion for decades.

A woman does it and some of you lose your fucking minds and sense of perspective.

I think some of you also hate the fact that you don’t know how to play the game, you don’t know how to self promote. Or worse, you’re not willing and too scared to go out on a limb and make a name for yourself.

Feel free to call her work boring, criticize what she’s creating, have at it. In this same thread I called her early work “art school schlock” many years ago.

But get the fuck out of here commenting on her face, tits, cooch, sex life, calling her a narcissist, saying she didn’t earn it, and generally being jealous littler toads. Some of you sound pathetic.

    • Agreed.
The wordmark still sucks, though. :\

    NBQ00, give it a rest.

  • ben_10

people are entitled to their opinions, but it's not like NBQ and Robo haven't given a solid case to be called out on.

I won't go to the extent fate has in terms of ⌘c ing people's comments, but the very first comments from these two took it to the "she must be successful because she got naked" place. I'm paraphrasing but you can go read it.

Couple that sentiment with one of them practically running the cotd thread and the other one just trying to get noticed through blatant sexism because people are by and large ignoring his xenophobic trolling now, and you don't really get to a believable "it's just sarcasm" conclusion here, but maybe it's just boys being boys?

Perhaps it's just locker room talk like Trump? except this isn't a locker room filled with a bunch of retarded jocks, it's a public website with an open forum where if you voice your opinion you can expect others to voice theirs.

It's fair game to rip on a designer for their actual work, even if your comments are as inarticulate as "shit's trash" (that's what semi-anonymous forums are for after all.), but tearing a person down using common tropes based on their gender is kind of despicable and worth calling out.

I think fate and I are trying to point out how shitty and embarrassing the criticism in this thread is. After 17 years on here, I'm at the point where I either need to call out this shit when I see it, or not be a part of the community any longer.

I'm disappointed that there are calls to chill out and "not turn this into a SJW issue." I can't be quiet about this behaviour anymore.

Narcissism is a very important skill to have, especially these days. Everything is based on marketing your identity online, the more narcissistic you are the better chance you have to position yourself to be an "influencer". It's sad but it's the place that marketing is at and you might as well embrace it. I would think most designers would already know this and accept it instead of kicking and screaming when a young designer uses it to their advantage.

It's also sad the amount of misogynist comments here about Walsh using her body to get ahead. It's her body, she gets to use it however she wants. A designer doesn't get famous just for being hot.

    • ...smells of extreme narcissism. She even got like 5 IG accounts she's curating. And needed an extra one just for her bikini and travel pics.NBQ00
    • As somebody mentioned before with sarcasm, go check out the andwalsh.com website. There's not enough Pics of her on there.NBQ00
    • She's acting as if she's a fucking big name celebrity or even more legendary than Stefan. And as if she started the new agency from scratch which is a lie.NBQ00
    • I'd say 70%+ of why she's well known isn't because of her actual design work but because a) she got associated with a legendary designer.NBQ00
    • b) because of her viral "40 days of dating" project. The rest is just constant average eye-candy work (not bad, never said it was bad) and her posing her looks.NBQ00
    • I could actually appreciate much of their work if it wasn't for her constantly shoving her face up our asses everywhere. The constant attention-seeking is lame.NBQ00

For decades we've roasted, flamed, harassed, and ridiculed male designers and maybe a few female designers alike, but mostly male.

The crowd here has always appreciated its own hive mind aesthetic. (Which I have personally enjoyed.) Clean, unintrusive, and polished.

We were not nice to Sagmeister & Walsh simply because. Most of it sucked, some of it not. Work worth appreciating was appreciated.

Now for some reason we can't act like ourselves because a woman has branched off in 2019? QBN will fall prey to political correctness? Fuck that. The work and presentation is trash.

We can shit on male designers for years for a myriad of reasons, but we can't shit on a woman whose work is not good because equality? That's some new world order equality.

Some individuals have roasted the community because of one or two member's opinions. Get over yourselves, both sides.

The shit looks trash, the presentation is trash. It's all rushed with no purpose. I'd say that if a guy made it too.

And yes, messiah complex is real with a few of you.

Roast Walsh all you want (I don't care for much of their work), as imbecile said, QBN has ridiculed male designers for a long time. But male designers weren't ridiculed for being male, unlike Walsh. That's some red pill, incel-like fuckery.

Some of you are trying too hard to be edgy. Fuck off with that shit.

    • Only idiots would see our criticism as women-hating incel BS. It's easy to drift into identity politics when you disagree with somebody.NBQ00
    • Not directed solely at you NBQ00, but I guess I misinterpreted this https://www.qbn.com/… bullshit.noneck
    • Forgive me, I'm an idiot after all.noneck
    • Yeah I wrote "It's a joke guys" making fun of the situation.NBQ00
    • After you got called out on it.noneck
    • QBN is becoming outright toxic. Something needs to change before this place turns into 4chan.noneck
    • Uhm, how? Don't you see my note on very top. I immediately wrote it when I posted the pic. geez.NBQ00
    • yeah now "it's a joke", 4 days ago you were insisting that she's just an untalented chick that got nakedernexbcn
    • Holy shit, I even wrote "It's a joke" in the notes there. Are you guys dumb?NBQ00
    • I'm talking about your other notes on other posts on this very same thread days ago, but whatever manernexbcn
    • "But male designers weren't ridiculed for being male, unlike Walsh." Exactamundo.Nairn
    • you say it's a joke, but everything you do says otherwise.ben_
    • So when you attack people by calling them incels, aren't you just doing exactly what you said they shouldn't do?zarkonite
    • Incel is a male-only insult isn't it? I think the name-calling from both sides is really pointless and doesn't help foster conversation.zarkonite
    • Incel isn't male-only, but it's generally male. I used it as an inaccurate short-hand for the kind of bitter, sexist attitudes I see here.noneck
    • I'm just saying de-escalating sounds like a better strategy to me, calling people incels and stomping on them isn't likely to get you anything but more insults.zarkonite
    • This is absolute rubbish. I was equally scathing of Sagmeister when he paraded his cock all over the place to gain notoriety.BusterBoy
  • imbecile3

there are literally two users attacking two other users here.

everyone else is evidently fair & neutral enough to avoid the attack the other two are receiving.

that said, the two boisterous high & mighties may want to refrain from continually using the term "this board" and "this community" when it is obvious to everyone that you are attacking a very small minority, a minority not even hiding from you, mind you.

what influence do you believe these users have that their opinion is gospel and represents a number of people larger than one?

it would better serve you to address individual users directly, than continue to snivel about the entire forum.

    • agree, if you feel it's out of hand... address. No reason to shut down a thread because of what's in here.ben_
    • Yes, opinions are welcome, it's ok to call bullshit on someone who haa a complete meltdown when anyone posts the words, "fertile young women". Srsly.robotron3k
    • I hope that NBQ does not quit us as well as fate, etc... Things appeared to get a bit out of control really quickly:)utopian
