Zimmerman charged with murder

This whole armed citizens taking the law into their own hands business is fucking retarded. I have known a number of goofs that were auxiliary police officers. There was always a reason why these shitheels weren't actually cops. One person I knew used to wear handcuffs on the back belt loops of his pants all the time. Most often the only time these people were ever used was during parades and other community events when the actual cops needed more of a presence. He was a pussy that thought that impersonating a cop got him respect and made him tough. These are the types of people that do these neighborhood patrols in many cases. Gung ho dickheads.
This grown man can't subdue a 140 pound 6 foot tall teenager without a pistol? He belongs behind bars, he is a fucking menace more than some kid with a bag of skittles ever would be.

It looks like he'll be charged with some lesser crime. None of the witnesses could verify anything since it was at night, and Im pretty sure there is no video of Zimmerman chasing him down and shooting him in the chest for no reason at all, therefore you cant just throw the guy away for life. You need PROOF, and it's not illegal to use deadly force if you feel your life is in danger. If a prosecutor doesnt have hard evidence that it wasnt self-defense, he walks.

Seriously, the Stand Your Ground law can't really apply to public spaces, can it? If an intruder breaks into you house, I understand defending yourself with lethal force, even if the intruder is unarmed.
But in public open spaces, where you're not confined nor trapped?
- are there not examples of one being confined or finding yourself trapped in the billions of public spaces?prophetone
- The point of stand your ground was bringing self defence law outside your home, was it not?ETM

i would never trust a person that volunteers for neighborhood watch

You're confusing "Stand Your Ground" with "Protect Your Castle."
- randommail0
IMO, Zimmerman can't be protected by the Stand Your Ground law.
Trayvon left the scene. Zimmerman PURSUED him! (against police dispatch's warning no less). In this case, didn't Zimmerman encroach on Trayvon's ground?

zimmerman is the son of a retired judge and has been arrested for domestic violence and resisting arrest twice (once with violence toward a police officer). all three prior arrests were cleared.
but really, let's blame the black kid for getting shot because he wore a sweatshirt and potentially had smoked pot at some point in the past month.

1. Follow someone after being instructed not to.
2. Get into a fist fight.
3. Get own ass kicked, badly.
4. Pull out a gun I had all along and kill the other person.
5. Claim it was "self-defense".'Murica. The home of the free and the brace.

I will wait for Law & Order version of this story.

@deathboy...there are always cases that get more attention. How is it JonBenet Ramsey's killing got non-stop national coverage when Tabatha Tudor, a poor kid from Nashville, barely made headlines after her disappearance?
If the police had arrested Zimmerman (or at least done a background check and/or taken him in for questioning) and played out the investigation the way many feel was appropriate, I don't think this shooting would be getting so much attention.

bullsh!t. This was no accident. It's a hate crime pure and simple. And I'm appalled that the jackass who killed him isn't in jail. It's outrageous.

Stand Your Ground = Don't leave any witnesses alive
