any, any, any excuse for the murder of this kid is absolute bullshit. fuck your hoodie arguments, fuck any sort of possible confrontation (which would have been wholly instigated by the motherfucking murderer). the kid would be alive if this piece of shit didn't follow him, suspect him because he was black, and then shoot him because of it. fuck any argument against these points.
i normally try to be very objective and hear all points, but the fact of the matter is that a guy saw a black kid and got suspicious and even if his argument would be proper - that he has a massive weight advantage but somehow this kid was able to overpower him and hit him - shooting treyvon was beyond a last resort. fights happen. this was murder. the police chief should be fired, the police department should be put under investigation, and most of all the shooter should be put on trial for murder in the first. he saw, he followed, he killed. that's premeditated.

well if he was hired by the town, said town better expect a civil suit and shellout serious cash. better believe they are gonna distance themselves. from whati hear dude was 'self-appointed' so if he was ever paid a dollar, he is fucked in a civil suit.
- He wasn't hired by the town. He was a community volunteer.ETM

Zimmerman was town watchman with a licensed weapon. He was kind of chosen to look into anyone who he deems as suspicious. I think a kid walking slowly in the rain looking at houses qualifies as something to check out.
So he follows him. After that we don't know what happened outside of what the 13 year old witness saw, which was Zimmerman on his back being pummeled by Trayvon, then a gun shot.
Zimmerman walks, end of story, which is what should happen, if that is in fact all we know. You can't put a guy away for life without knowing for a hard fact that he attacked first, which we just don't know right now and may never know. And if that's the case it's just the right thing to let him go.
But black people will protest, riot and loot anyway. They enjoy that apparently. It seems like when white people protest it's over wars and bigger shit like that. Black people do it over one lost black kid without even know ALL of the facts.
- He WAS NOT a town watchman, he was a self-appointed captain of a small neighborhood watchJosev
- The handgun was NOT issued to him, it was his personal weaponJosev
- The police didn't even follow proper procedures when he gave his account of what happened, which is why the FBI has stepped in.Josev
- has stepped in. They didnt even contact all of the witnesses.Josev
- Besides... WTF would a town watchman be? Is this 1887 London?ETM

imagine google earth 50-100 years from now, able to track and record the lives of every human being on earth.
We won't need these discussions any more.

It saddens me that this tragedy has been politicized...it really shows our racist roots. Cygnus, you don't even seem to hear yourself: "...black people will protest, riot...They enjoy it apparently." You're a part of the problem, dude.
It doesn't matter if:
1. this kid was suspended for smoking pot
2. wore a hoodie
3. clocked ZimmermanThere were actually lots of 911 calls that night that all seem to bring Zimmerman into question (not to mention the girlfriend who was on the phone). This Zimmerman guy was wielding a gun, had no uniform on, and by accounts I've read had his own set of issues. I don't believe he set out to murder someone but the truth is he f*kd up.
- The police didn't even interview the girlfriend initially.Josev
- you're blaming Cygnus for black people's propensity towards rioting?lambsy
- wow. lights on but nobody's home.monkeyshine

From Huffpo: "The murder charge indicates prosecutors plan to prove Zimmerman shot Martin with malice, though without premeditation. A manslaughter charge would have required prosecutors to prove only that Zimmerman acted unlawfully and with criminal negligence in shooting the teen."
I question whether they can prove malice, given what we've seen so far. Why didn't they just go for manslaughter and be done with it?
- malice will hinge on "coons" and the fact he went after him after the cops said not to.colin_s
- I'm not sure being racist equals malice in this case. He overreacted. Race was involved. Malice? I don't see it.monkeyshine

"When 28-year-old George Zimmerman was discovered by Sanford, Florida police standing over the body of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, they accepted Zimmerman's claim that he killed in self-defense as a neighborhood watch captain. Now, through a statement released by the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) -- the parent organization of USAonWatch-Neighborhood Watch -- it has been revealed that Zimmerman was not a member of any group recognized by the organization. Zimmerman violated the central tenets of Neighborhood Watch by following Martin, confronting him and carrying a concealed weapon.
"In no program that I have ever heard of does someone patrol with a gun in their pocket," Carmen Caldwell, the Executive Director of Citizens' Crime Watch of Miami-Dade, told theGrio. "Every city and municipality has their own policies. Here in Miami-Dade we train people only to be the eyes and ears of their communities. Not to follow and most definitely not to carry a weapon."- Exactly. This isn't rocket science.monkeyshine
- Zimmerman was not recognized by any authority.Josev

^ that story about the white couple being murdered and tortured is a million times worse than what happened to Trayvon.

and no media coverage. Man america is fucked up.
good luck with everything.- apples and oranges. The issue with the Martin killing is the killer wasn't arrested.futuremongolian

i'd wear a hoodie too if it was chilly & rainy and was used to warm orlando weather.
what you wear shouldn't affect if you get shot, rather what you do.
- Fox & Friends disagree with youRamanisky2
- maybe they should kill me and claim self-defense if they feel so strongly about it.doesnotexist
