Both are great, I have an iPad and galaxy s (1st gen), and I love both. Previous owned an iPhone too.
I'm not a fan of apples closed systems, but that's easily fixed with a jailbreak to get a file browser etc.
One thing I have realised having both a tablet and smart phone is that when I used my iPad then use my phone, the screen feels tiny, which you would totally expect, but it does make me think that generally i would love a larger screen on my phone at the cost of it being slightly bigger.
The dude from technobuffalo (jon4lakers on YouTube) raves about the galaxy note and uses it as his day to day phone. Bare in mind that guy has access to all sorts of tech.
If it were me I'd go for the note.
(he has a recent review of it too)

Switched from iPhone to android a few months back.
Not S2, but after a few simple downloads had most of ICS's features.
First time I've ever got excited about a phone.

Damn.. that Galaxy Note review makes me want it really bad.

iPhone is a one button yawn. But for my parents it's perfect because all the thinking and arranging is done for you.
Galaxy SII and Note are straight up fun with killer battery life and full on customizing you can do. they are open systems and the coolest thing is when their operating system, ICS goes out of beta in a month or so. The pan and swipe will become industry standard as far as usability. it also has decent audio so you can use the phone as a jam box whenever you're in need of tunes, that's what i really like.
- Galaxy S2 does not have killer battery life unless you get a chunky aftermarket one.orrinward2

I think Galaxy Note is an example of what we might see as a new standard in general purpose personal computers. It's got an amazing screen, it's slightly bigger than a phone but still can be used as one fairly comfortably, it has stylus to fill in that gap for scribbling notes where using a finger is really weird, amazing battery life with 4G speeds and open for customization is some really full blown apps for productivity if you need to write something or basically do some light work.
It can connect to a big screen/monitor and you can even connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to it.
This guy is doing it all .. very interesting

I am waiting for Windows (believe it or not). The phones I've played with at att are so fast and smooth, it makes my iPhone4S seem archaic. Not a fan of Android, looks just like Apple's designs but less smooth. Windows...mark my words!
- The windows phones are underrated, v v smooth interface, I wouldn't mind one at all.Hombre_Lobo

I hate QBN. I had decided against this phone last year but I had another go today and it does seem very good. Anyone after a new iPhone 4s?!

So those of you using this phone, for someone who's used to iphone / itunes sync and backup, how do you sync and backup and what are you using to transfer music to the phone?
- The beauty of android is you transfer files (Inc music) like a USB key! Hassle free, no nees for iTunes!Hombre_Lobo
- Also back up wise there are several software choices. Clockwork recovery mod is popular among geeks like myself...Hombre_Lobo
- Myself who change system settings, appearance etc but I'm pretty sure kies can do it too.Hombre_Lobo
- dropbox is killerrobotron3k
- Dropbox ftw, good point robo.Hombre_Lobo
- I am on a Galaxy S2 and I use Winamp with Wireless Sync and also Dropbox.orrinward2

a mind of your own?
I jest, I jest.

samsung seems a bit too big, imo, trying to be both a tablet and a phone.
the galaxy is obviously a rip off what apple's done. i'd go with the leader.

I feel like the specs are better on the note.... but i own imac an ipad, just never made the iphone jump yet... been on android
- GeorgesII0
lol,
have you seen the note,
they have two very diverse target, you could fit two 4s in a note,

get the iphone 4s
we just had this discussion here last week. the results... the galaxy is just too big.
it doesn't fit easily or nicely into your pocket and it quite literally takes two hands to operate. with the iphone everyone in the office could easily, with one hand, reach the top corner icon when using the phone. 5 people here could NOT reach the upper areas of the phone while using one hand without awkwardly shifting the phone around. think of your everyday scenarios. you have a coffee, umbrella, whatever in one hand while using your phone in another, the galaxy more often than not required two hands to operate, which is simply unfeasible. the screen was great but it crossed the threshold of functional an inch or so ago.

I have the galaxy and the fiancee has a 4s - I like them both, apple has a better app store. The galaxy is a bit quicker when using the cell network for data. I don't mind the galaxys size.
Sprint doesn't offer a protection plan for apple products but will insure the galaxy (not sure about other carriers) - I dropped my galaxy the other day, still functional but cracked pretty good - going to cost me $100 for a new phone, better then full price...

I have both, I like Apple stuff but the Galaxy has impressed me! And I'm loving Android despite less Apps then Apple you have much more control on what you can do and customise on your phone.
And I've noticed that in London you can see loads of ppl are using the Galaxy S2.
It'll be hard to go back to the iPhone.
