Fantastic Mr. Fox was a masterpiece.
Rushmore was boring.

Boring? It had the best story/script
Fantastic Fox was a kids movie
His newer movies have nice visuals, but the story is a bit incoherent

This was a great film. The random events like the dog and lightning were just fun irreverence that kept everything moving at a pace, you want to take of those bits out? They make it feel more like a kids way of telling a story when random events get thrown in because they thought it was funny.

I think Wes Anderson started suffocating himself. When we first watched his movies, we thought that he brought a unique perspective with his cinematic visuals, quirky characters and unusual storyline. But with each movie I think he became his own enemy. I don't see that uniqueness anymore.
The cast can be the same, visuals can be the same but don't repeat the same story over and over again please.
Problemed parents, problemed kids, problemed families. Divorce or a loss of a family member. Brotherhood or relations between the siblings. It's turned into a movie series rather than individual movies.
I feel like he's become obsessed for being an auteur. But visuals wear off quicker, he needs better and DIFFERENT stories.

I enjoyed it. I though the pacing was snappier than some of his past movies, interesting and real feeling island, great coming of age love story, wonderful colors.
Not as good as Rushmore, but definitely better than his more recent stuff, especially INDIA DEATH TRAIN: THE TRAIN THAT KILLS PEOPLE and CLAYMATION FOX: REVENGE OF THE TURKEY STEALER.
