What do people think about the sony google TV? I was thinking of getting the 46inch one... I have an Apple computer, ipad, and iphone, and an android phone in my home... it seems to connect to apple products ok.
I thought about just getting apple tv but, google tv seems to offer more and streamline well with the TV set.

I heard some bad things about the Google interface and reliability. Their stand-alone box debuted at $300 and is now selling at under $99 for a reason. I wonder if integrating it into the TV is even worth it.

I'm quite happy with Apple TV. If you're an iTunes fiend like me (never had Netflix), then content between your Apple devices and TV will synergize almost perfectly.

Wait for Apple to do it right, just like Sony and Google are.

I have heard good things and bad... so i am confused, and they are going to put honey comb on it really soon... I think one of the reasons for the price drop could be to compete with and appleTV or other similar products.

Everyone's going to have an opinion to offer you. However, if you already have 2 or more Apple devices and "streamlining" is your aim, then reconsider Apple TV.
- I think internet TV is more my aim... being able to toggle between internet and TV shows.
EPtype - when you say "Internet," what exactly do you mean?monospaced
- I mean full blown browser on my TV
EPtype - meh... kind of overrated, but go for itmonospaced

I have GoogleTV.. it's great.. the new Honeycomb update made a lot of good things happen.
You can now run full blown Android apps, games and so on directly on your TV. Sony one with GoogleTV integrated is really great cause it doesn't require a box..
I have the old Logitech one and while the initial experience needed apps, it was VERY useful. The power to watch live TV, search the web and watch that and have access to the full blown browser along with services like Amazon, Netflix worked perfectly.
I loved it mostly because of Amazon support along with Netflix but it was great to be able to just check out something on the web quickly.
It was very expensive though. It was not worth $299 (for what I paid). But now it's $99 if you want to buy Logitech box and I'm sure it's a great thing if you want to have things I mentioned above plus full blown apps.
I will just have to point out is that you might want to check out new Samsung and LG TVs. The latest models have support for SmartTV powered apps and games. So it's kind of a similar thing but might work on both LG and Samsung TVs.. The good thing about GoogleTV though is that it might support the same apps too. I think they all build it on top of Android.

http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-vi…Also.. I think SmartTV platform also supports Flash stuff on the web, plus other Adobe tech built apps. But GoogleTV supports that too.
I think GoogleTV is better than SmartTV personally but these 2 will be prevalent platforms in the future and I think that Google will make GoogleTV a part of everything with Motorola cable boxes being everywhere.
I don't think you lose anything really. If you don't like it, you don't use it. It shouldn't cost anything extra on that TV anywyas.
- I was thinking the honey comb would really make this tv great... but i didnt know it was out already. I liek the all-in-one idea because i need a new tv anyway
EPtype - although the samsung tv look liek better TV pictures... but i am not sure I would really notice... and i really like the look of the sony tvEPtype

- unfortunately AppleTV it doesn't do 1/10th of what GoogleTV does. I have Apple TV as well. It's useless.monolith
- Not necessarily true. You can use your iPad as a remote (with use of its keyboard).Handel
- Does TV need to do all that stuff?animatedgif

Google TV is the shit, but the $99 dollar one cause you get a keyboard. The lil keyboard is stupid. Logitech makes legit things anyway.

"unfortunately AppleTV it doesn't do 1/10th of what GoogleTV does. I have Apple TV as well. It's useless."
My Apple TV does way more than 1/10th of what the GoogleTV does. The Apple TV does have some room for improvement though. I'd love it if it was linked to both Hulu and Amazon for even more options. While it doesn't include a browser, that's ok for me; browsing on my television doesn't sound fun at all. But, for the most part, the device is easily worth the $99 price tag. I control it from anywhere in my apt with the Remote app on any iOS device... ANYONE can stream to it with an iOS device, which makes for great parties, and I can access Netflix and iTunes seamlessly and elegantly.
- For me if aTV had hulu it would have every thing I need.carianoff

Apple will come out with a full blown integrated TV in the next 12 months. Mark my words.

with products like this, the human race is on its way to becoming the reality of the wall-e vision. who would leave their couch now? next up... a google lounge chair port-a-potti with bluetooth.

I have a new Sony TV and it doesn't have either. However, it is connected via wifi, has Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, and a few dozen other things I've never heard of (not a huge media/movie buyer).
It came with everything installed, took 10 minutes to setup and I am good to go.
(clearly not the same, but a huge difference from the TVs I was looking at a year ago)
