just picked up the blu-ray. i find it funny that the packaging and an additional sticker are eager to point out "Questions Will Be Answered..."
- ... in the sequel lol. But they answered the main question, where do we come from.CygnusZero4

Anyone else notice that Prometheus is basically MISSION TO MARS??
Still really enjoyed Prometheus tho :)- Never seen it. Does look uncannily similar. Also, looks pretty good. Will check it out. Thanks for posting!Horp
- NO worries
http://www.youtube.c… you can see the full movie on youtube
mattwrightgd - There's a reason you've never seen it, Horp.detritus
- Which is to say — it's because it's a really good movie, and you've got no taste.detritus

I watched it again today. Thanks pirate bay!

I love the fact that it builds up on the idea that the human race was engineered... which is something far more possible from my point of view than the Darwin theory.
The characters, plot, etc... I didn't care to much. I enjoyed every single minute of it.

- so you dont watch films for plot or characters? that explains a lot about the state of the film industryfadein11
- I'm just not so close minded as to watch a film the way I have been told to watch itclearThoughts

Pointless characters, disjointed, some bad scenes... but it had amazing visuals and amazing ideas. Really felt at times like yeah, this is what it'd be like to face a superior alien race. SPOILER: When that engineer wakes up and smashes apart the humans, he has this foreign alien look on his face, really unsettling... equivalent of a dog trying to understand a human as it's kicked to death.
Anyway... why did they edit out that moment where rooney grasps her hands infront of the mirror (was in the trailer)? Such an iconic character & visual moment and it's not even in the film. Bizarre.
Overall they needed to tighten the script and strip back some of the plot threads. Too many mutant beast things happening as well. Worms, zombies, viruses, snakes, tenticle creatures, god-aliens... And yeah, that very last shot / sequence pissed me off, incredibly lame - yet another alien spin-off hybrid monster, leave that too the hack-directors ridley!

"which is something far more possible from my point of view than the Darwin theory"
That humans were engineered by...who? God?
- God is a concept. By 'who' is the whole point. But it can be done.clearThoughts

^ The first people came out black because....(insert racist joke here)
- clearThoughts0
If we can reach another planet with similar conditions to ours, we could pretty much create life using genetical engineering.... imagine some time ahead from now considering DNA was first discovered in 1869 and the Double Helix structure by Crick later in 1958...

Sorry yeah that sounds negative... It's actually a mind blowing film in certain moments. I keep thinking about it. A sign of great sci-fi.

Haven't seen it yet, but I get a sense from what I hear, final editing may be as much to blame as script problems.
So I guess we wait for the Director's cut to be released. Ridley loves those. But not the first version. We have to wait a little after for the "Final Cut", ala Blade Runner.

why does the goo have to be black? #racist thats why

Why did so many of you read the forums to death BEFORE you'd even seen the movie?
How does that not ruin the experience?
There's a good argument for even avoiding trailers now, as they either (a) give the best parts away (Spiderpig) or, (b) are so unlike the movie it's tantamount to false advertising. But to see arguments, counter-arguments, screenshots and plot analysis BEFORE you've even bought your ticket is an utter waste of time, no?
This movie had a shitload of faults, but so many of you were looking for #plotholes and #errors to tweet about you missed a really interesting core theme (Engineers returning "about 2000 years ago") it's not surprising you were disappointed.
