It's a bit like Exxon investing in wind farms...

Meh, it'll just be another rubbish piece of bloatware from Adobe. By the time it takes to learn and iron out the bugs you could have just learnt JS and HTML 5
- Trying to animate something without a timeline is near impossible to visualize with just code. I'm talking more complex animation, not just simple sliding fading etc.fyoucher1

- Having an IDE for HTML5-based animations is a massive plus for both dev's and designers.fyoucher1
- Devs very rarely see the need for a timeline. If you're an animator it's obvious.CyBrainX
- That's what the application is specifically forfyoucher1

It's quite nice, I like how the timeline works.
Not sure I'd have a use for it though

I am seeing the future for 80% of you... staring at timeline controls, yet having to relearn them because they keep getting reinvented for different contexts. It's like a greek tragedy.
- won't the context always be animation?itstimefortea
- derpkingsteven
- animation has different contexts.animation for video. animation for web. etc.
cannonball1978 - yeah but the principle is similar. there isn't a vast difference between one timeline and anotheritstimefortea
- sure there arecannonball1978

found this on the adobe site. interesting to see how the UI developed and got made all after effectsy.

"staring at timeline controls, yet having to relearn them because they keep getting reinvented for different contexts"
To be fair if someone has that much trouble adapting to new software then they're in completely the wrong business and deserve to fall by the wayside.
- It's not like having to learn jQery or CSS animations after using Flash's timeline since the 90s.CyBrainX
- youre right. (holds head in hands) you are so right. what have i beendoing with my life?

Downloading the preview and installing right now....

and Adobe does it again.. creates a tool that will be used as a standard in creating HTML5 animations.
I wonder what Apple fanboys will find to hate about Adobe now?

Been waiting for this for a while. I'm all over this. I'm sure there will be a little niche for using this software. There are other programs out there that do the same but no one has made it a 'standard' program to use to create these small types of animations (I'm guessing that these will specifically be used to create banner ads, which is what I do). Everyone is the design biz uses Adobe's software, so if any software is going to become the standard, it'll be Adobe's version. Once you learn a couple of timelines (Flash versus AE/C4D..they're all easy to understand). Now just need to think of some personal projects to get started with.

Ok...so I have performed some very basic animations.
Some things to note:
Fairly easy to use. I have a basic level of flash [I can make simple banners] and was able to figure this out immediately.
Smooth transitions can be toggle on and off.
Would like more drawing tools right in the app...maybe that will come.
If you have a good handle on how to make jQuery sing this is unnecessary.
Wonder how it will pair up with something like appcelerator where someone with limited JS background can output a nice app.

Lol, a tool for HTML5. Too funny.

I also posted this on YouTube.
I wish this could be done from After Effects since AE has much more power than this. My main question is whether this has any scripting capabilities. Buttons, links, etc. I'm guessing no since there hasn't been any other html5 animation solution that does. Also, all that looping would probably have had an expression type of loopOut() like After Effects. Great start though.

How much does it cost?
