problem with doing anything in html5 vs flash - people can see your code in html5. you make an online game and everything is there to be taken. with a swf it's a little harder to get at, and more so if you use an obscuring software.

but you limit your audience with the plugin model.
open source is the way to go for a website, perhaps exclusive video and games can stay in flash for security.

Did some work for one of the bigger agencies that specializes in Flash and Flex work recently...and they mentioned that HTML5 and standards-based work has now eclipsed Flash in terms of their revenue.
No wonder even Flash evangelists are changing their tune...

I just made a square turn into a circle. Disappear, reappear and run off the canvas. yip.

This tool is just for creating websites, this is not for making 'fantasia 3000.'

Downloading the preview and installing right now....

I can see size becoming an issue. There is a basic "vector" (I will call it that for reference) authoring tool. If you want to "wow" you need to use, *.gif, *.png, *.jpg. My conclusion Flash would still be lighter, faster, more efficient in that regard.
So basically we are back to flash beta without propriety plugins. Interesting.

In the future the solution will be called...Flashy HTML™

I want to revive something dead?

and Adobe does it again.. creates a tool that will be used as a standard in creating HTML5 animations.
I wonder what Apple fanboys will find to hate about Adobe now?

no , nooo... you can't call a zombie revived.
zombies are undead, now what is the definition of undead?
and does that definition apply to flash?
it could apply to the genesis.

Been waiting for this for a while. I'm all over this. I'm sure there will be a little niche for using this software. There are other programs out there that do the same but no one has made it a 'standard' program to use to create these small types of animations (I'm guessing that these will specifically be used to create banner ads, which is what I do). Everyone is the design biz uses Adobe's software, so if any software is going to become the standard, it'll be Adobe's version. Once you learn a couple of timelines (Flash versus AE/C4D..they're all easy to understand). Now just need to think of some personal projects to get started with.

Ok...so I have performed some very basic animations.
Some things to note:
Fairly easy to use. I have a basic level of flash [I can make simple banners] and was able to figure this out immediately.
Smooth transitions can be toggle on and off.
Would like more drawing tools right in the app...maybe that will come.
If you have a good handle on how to make jQuery sing this is unnecessary.
Wonder how it will pair up with something like appcelerator where someone with limited JS background can output a nice app.

at the end of the day, whether it's flash, html5 etc.. all the audience is receiving is text, images, sounds, videos.
I say we turn off the pc. Put away the laptop. And open the book, browse the magazine, put the needle on the record and press play on the VHS. I saw we go back to the good old days of vhs, to the golden ear of "back to the future", "the addams family", "ghostbusters" and "robocop".
I say to hell with html5 and it's ugly sister flash.
I want a life style that gets you out the house more.
You want to know why we are all getting fat in these times?
Cos we no longer have to go out of the freaking house!

I mean I get why they are doing it, but is this tool going to allow you to do all of the things you can do in Adobe Flash and it's JS-based library? Or is this for standards dweebs?
- chalk0
Lol, a tool for HTML5. Too funny.
- jon_d0
oh boy.
