I feel nothing.

I like his stuff, just don't know why he's so praised when he doesn't have too much technical ability.
I always wonder why he got so much success. His stuff isn't too unique.

"Of reputation and artistic acclaim, Mr. Twombly said: 'It's something I don’t think about. If it happens, it happens, but don't bother me with it. I couldn’t care less.'"

stunning art. will be missed.

'he doesn't have too much technical ability' - define that, you are saying it factually. Are you really the type of person who judges an artist on how 'real' something looks? Would you cast aside the majority of 20th C art because it's abstract or abstracted?
If his 'stuff' isn't too unique, can you name me some artists working in the same way - I'd love to see them. Photography, drawing, sculpture and painting.
I'm biased, I think he's a genius and one of the best modern painters there was. However, and this applies across fine art and design, if you're going to be critical of anything at least put some kind of context or at least reasoning to your comments. You sound like my gran, 'an elephant could have done it'.

Just looks like kid's art really, presented nicely.
I mean, really:

show me some adults' art then that you admire. BTW did you mean kids'?
You'll do well I'm sure.

Its abstract art. I get it...but really far down the abstract spectrum. So far down the spectrum is wraps around and shares the same space as 'child like' illustration. There is a place for everything. C'est la vie.
- Atkinson0
There is a place for everything indeed. I can't help but think there's some narrow mindedness on here sometimes though. I'm not familiar with an abstract spectrum, just abstract or figurative, and actually his paintings are pretty much figurative and contain sometimes quite a strong narrative.
Agreed, if it weren't in the Gagosian he'd just be another artist in another studio. Would Munari have done anything if he wasn't spotted, or Carson, or Dyson, or Pollock, Picasso, Basquiat, .....

I just object to the whole art system. I like the stuff, but don't see why it's worth millions of $. I don't understand why he went to that high $$$ level. Richard Prince, same thing.
Jeff Koons and Hirst are the only ones who invest serious money in making art.

Ive been lucky to see Towmbly's work around the world as well. And it is definitely sad to see another artist pass on, but I still cant make the connection on why his work is so great. Abstract, yes. but what else am I missing? I say this in the utmost respect, but I feel like his paintings are just a cruel trick on people sometimes. I guess if you see just one or two of his paintings at one time its fine, but to see a entire room of his work, you may start to question things.
Please dont crucify me for this post ;)
- no crucifixion req'd - everyone is entitled to their opinion; it is art after-all...adumbratesly
