Oh and scoff all you want. We know how the planet formed and that it's solid with a molten iron core. Even considering this alternative is borderline retarded.
- You know this for a fact? Nope.set
- Of coursemonospaced
- Oh you've been down there?set
- Don't need to. If one know anything about earth sciences they need not even question it.monospaced
- You simply cannot say you know it to be a fact. You don't.set
- You believe it to be a fact, as I do.set

OK, point taken, there are things about the world we don't know.
But does that really mean we not allowed to scoff over anything, no matter how ridiculous? And if not this, then what? I say scoffing is warranted here...

I've first heard of this theory a month ago.. I googled everything I could find and one thing that is so amazing to me is that if this is science fiction, if this theory does sound like a great inspiration for a novel or for a movie.. how come nobody ever made anything inspired by this?
Not a single movie? Ok there are shit movies like "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "The Core"... but not a single production on a theory that the earth could be hollow.
I think that if indeed earth is hollow, there are people that would go many ways to protect that secret, imagine what could happen if we turned on the news and watch the latest coverage from the entrance to the inner earth.

All I am saying is that you are scoffing at something that you truly cannot verify for yourself is true or not.
I'm not saying the earth is hollow, I don't fucking know, and it seems unlikely... People scoffed when people started saying the earth was round... it seemed unlikely to their level of understanding at the time.
We still know fuck all and rather than thinking that we know everything and blindly taking everything mainstream science tells us as fact, its prudent to have an open mind and understand that although we know a hell of a lot more than we did 200 years ago - we are still babies in our journey as a species.
- And you call ME what? Wow.monospaced

You have it backwards set...I fully realize that I'm not a physics expert, and so like most people I delegate the task of proving or disproving it to actual scientists.
The laws of physics are still in progress, sure, but that's all very high level theoretical stuff like string theory. Scientists aren't arguing over whether the planet is hollow or not.

^ Which impossible physics is that?
Also the laws of physics are continuing to be broken by science. You continue to show your ignorance while scoffing at other peoples ignorance, pretty comical.
Gotta love people who think they know everything about reality.
- Well, for starters I'm pretty sure the internal sun would melt the surrounding rock...ukit

In all seriousness though...and putting aside the impossible physics and other problems with this theory...
For the Earth to be hollow, something would need to have hollowed it out, right? The way planets form is by space debris slowly accumulating together.
Therefore, a hollow Earth is about as likely as a hollow ball of lint or a hollow hairball.

i just finished reading 'journey to the center of the earth' last week. way cool. then, i saw the trailer for that brendon frasier movie and almost punched the tv.

What a bunch of horse-shit, and a terrible thing to assign to someone as having said. Great story, but fiction, and a slur on the character of Admiral Byrd to have him associated with it.
I blame religion.

Interesting Read...."We are crossing over the small mountain range and still proceeding northward as best as can be ascertained. Beyond the mountain range is what appears to be a valley with a small river or stream running through the center portion. There should be no green valley below! Something is definitely wrong and abnormal here! We should be over Ice and Snow! To the portside are great forests growing on the mountain slopes. Our navigation Instruments are still spinning, the gyroscope is oscillating back and forth!"
