Dear Customer,
We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.
Your current $11.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray access) will be split into 2 distinct plans:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray), 1 out at-a-time (no streaming)
for $9.99 a monthYour price for getting both of these plans will be $17.98 a month ($7.99 + $9.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.
These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.
You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.
We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-357-1516.

this is probably a move to push to only a streaming service and put everything in the cloud eventually, which makes sense... saves on all that shipping, anyway.
but regardless of that, either way, it sucks hard for now.

wtf...I got the same email, but the quote I got for both plans was about $23. Can't they at least have one price?

You are complaining about unlimited entertainment for just $18 a month?
That's only about 20% of the price of a shitty seat at a stadium concert, right?

The Belly of an Architect
Just watched this on instant last night, highly recommended for any designer. Every shot is insanely composed, and the art direction is amazing as well as the lighting. Tons of classical reference and metaphor and poetic things such as that and also a lot of conceptual art/architecture BS, if you're into that sorta thing.

Planet of the Vampires
The title is really misleading, none of the special effects are believable, and its low-budget, but other than that it is insanely stylish, and was a big enough influence on Alien that some people say Alien is just a rip-off of it!Rainbow Bright and the Star Stealer
I remember this from when I was a kid so I showed it to my daughters, dude... Rainbows, robots, crystals, space, and lazers is all that need be said.

I am thinking of cancelling my NF account. I want to watch a movie, get excited for some relaxation and entertainment, then spend 45 minutes browsing old movies I don't care about.
"New Releases" should be "new" movies, dammit.
I have started using Amazon's Prime streaming, which is free when you buy their $80 (I think) free shipping deal. That shipping deal saved me about $300 last year (got furniture, large LCD TV).
Selection isn't much better, but the search is far better. Also, they have tons of "New Releases" that are "new" that you can buy individually, if you want (for $2-$4 or so).
Quality isn't as good, imho, but ok. Also, it usings, get this, Flash!! Ha.

Seems like the same story, content owners demanding more money, that ends up hurting all these online services.

Netflix streaming is shit now.
My public library, which I now rent from every other week, has a better selection of movies.
