it reminded me of the "... for dummies" book covers
- it looks like a dvd that would be selling for .99 but if the design were good it could go for $4.99SrSamaurai

I think the left one is stronger in the simplicity. However, knowing most clients, he'll go for the right.

The one on the right is good because it kinda has a "these words are coming outta my mind" feel.
I don't like like the device used though. ie the yellow tear thing.

I prefer the one on the left, too. The other reminds me of a crayola box. Maybe this is a bad suggestion, but can you crop in even a little more? Something about that patterned shirt bugs me. The "WITH" kinda bugs me, did you try it running bottom to top instead of top to bottom?

Reshoot - and keep the hands off the face, you won't regret it.
- epigraph0
haha it would be awesome if they were someone elses hands. Like very obviously somebody elses.

yeah why have the photo at all, I don't a give a fuck what he looks like. He doesn't even look like a magician.

hahah good point

The one cover of the left is easier to read and does NOT look like one of those "For Dummies" books...

His other DVD covers are really bad...

Do you have to put his face on there?
- He wanted it. But we wil see what his feedback is.Claymantis

Man is it ever tough to work with shitty photo assets. His collar looks like mutton chops and the shadow on the dudes head just emphasizes the egginess of him.
The left is the best layout IMO. Also detracts from the the shadow on his head.
And if you can convince him to lose the pull quote you will be better off but we all know how that will go.
