How do you manage your mp3 on your computer? Whats the alternative to iTunes when you have an Android?

    • Google Play Music, you can upload up to 50,000 songskgvs72
    • But what software do you use on your computer to manage it all? Is there a Google Play Music for desktop?Ben99
    • if you want to stay out of the googles, you can buy a big microsd and just load tracks on it. Google Play Music or a slew of other apps can play themakiersky
    • i just find iSyncr. You can sync your desktop iTunes with your Android device with this.Ben99
    • Bizarrlely enough, on my Mac I used iTunes to organise everything and then copied the folders across from Finder using Android File Transfer. Decent enough.face_melter
    • ^ same, works perfectly.set
    • i'll try iSyncr and let you knowBen99
    • so, the only part of the Apple flow you use is its absolute worst product?monospaced
    • Please, o wonderous sage, enligten us with your iTunes wisdom so we all may benefit from its heavenly glow.face_melter
    • Or. It worked fine for me and had no proplems so your belly-aching means absolutely fuck all.face_melter
    • iTunes is such a piece of shit of non-intuitive software. It was once useful, and now it's a goddamn nightmare. I wish there was a different way. not sarcasticmonospaced

How does everyone sync their Outlook contacts (desktop app, not cloud)?

So far, it looks like it is nearly impossible. I do NOT want my business contacts in Gmail.

    • i don't know about other people but i use owncloud. got tired of trying so many things and got the patience to set it up.oey
    • Thanks, but not looking for cloud, just looking for a simple way to import my contactsformed

So I took a look at the Sony lineup in the store and I wasn't impressed, the build quality was not on par with Apple, Samsung S6 and others.

I was impressed by the HTC One M9, the case was beautiful and built like a tank. I think this will be my next phone, despite of the camera.. It's just a bit expensive for what I planned to do with it but the nice metal cases come only with the higher end phones I think..

    • get an S6, I'm totally in love with mine and every fuckn update they push makes even better
      pros: alles
cons: can't fuckn turn off shutter sound
      GeorgesIV
    • Yeah I have seen it but I really like the metal body of the M9 more..mekk
    • you must be joking, the build quality on sony is utterly on par with the others. What the feck were you looking at the cheaper options?set
    • the M9 is equally nice though for sure. Haven't had a look t the S6set
    • but Georges has it so it must be utterly and horrendously shitset
    • Yeah, Sony handsets are mint. Only the Z compacts could remotely be classed as 'cheap' because they use hard plastic instead of metal.face_melter
    • But everything else is on point - camera, screen, glass, finish. Makes a mockery of every other Android handset, to be honest.face_melter
    • Can't mute the shutter sound? Weird.monospaced
    • You can...set

Anyone here ever install a dual-boot on his iPhone, Android and iOS?

    Seems like its possible. http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-t…

    • Interesting curio. I did this with my old iPhone 3G. Slow as hell and made it hotter than the sun - battery lasted about 12 minutes. Also: April fool.face_melter

    • hmm I have a look at it but it does have a crippled Android on it it seemsmekk
    • Absolutely not. The latest update has stripped out about 98% of the Sony crap. It's a better experience on my Sony now than on my nexus tablet.set

So I'm looking for a new phone since my Lumia 800 is dying slowly after ca. 4 years.

I want to switch to android because WP didn't really make the jump. iOS is no option for me because I don't want to use iTunes and all the other harassments Apple throws at me. But I like their hardware.

I want my new phone to be made out of metal and glass, run stock android and that's pretty much all of it. No games, no fancy cameras (a decent one would be nice, anyway) - just Calling, Texting, Browsing, Music apps etc. No big deal.

The ideal phone for me is an iPhone 4S with the actual stock android OS..

    What can you guys recommend?

    • Sony Xperia Z2. Excellent phone and can be had for cheap since the Z3 came out. http://oyster.ignimg…set
    • look at the OnePlus One, also super cheap because the OnePlus Two is coming out. Runs stock android. Great battery life. nice designsarahfailin
    • Moto X Pure Edition is the best phone for that price. It's coming out this week.
and I am not affiliated with Moto
      zaq
    • Don't listen to these daft twatsset
    • hmm I looked at the One and the Moto X and G but I really don't like the plastic cases.. The HTC m8 feels nice but looks like assmekk
    • Sony, seriously.set

6 Biggest Features of Google’s New Android M
    https://www.yahoo.com/tech/these…

    Android M,
    can't wait for this "update"

    --

Some people believe that Android M doesn’t deserve the title of Android 6, mainly because it isn’t as big of an overhaul as previous Android 1.x releases have been or because it doesn’t accompany the visual changes we’ve seen on previous 1.x releases.

While on some level this is true, going over the long list of improvements does really put into perspective how big of an update M truly is.

Let’s go over all the features we will(or might) see on Android M:
    • Now on Tap
    • Permissions Management
    • SD Cards can be “merged” with internal storage
    • Android Pay
    • Native fingerprint authentication
    • Automatic app data backups
    • App Links (you’re going to see less of those “what do you want to open this in?” prompts)
    • Doze and App Standby
    • Multi Window(currently hidden, uncertain future)
    • Theming support(currently hidden, uncertain future)
    • Dark theme(removed, uncertain future)
    • Customisable Quick Toggles along with other UI tweaking
    • Visual Voicemail Support
    • Redesign of the Clock Widget and Music Identification Widget
    • New “Memory” Section in Settings(it was there before, but hidden)
    • Support for deleting screenshots directly through the notification centre after they’ve been taken
    • Landscape mode available for the Google Now Launcher(feature will likely be backported to older versions of Android)
    • New app and widget drawer with scroll bar support and vertical scrolling
    • Built-In File Manager receives a bump in functionality
    • Native tap to wake support
    • Ability to disable “heads up” or “peeking” notifications
    • Native 4K output support
    • Stricter APK validation
    • MIDI support
    • USB Type C support
    • New boot animation
    • Introduction of a “voice interaction” API to allow better interaction with voice actions in apps
    • Toggling battery saver by voice
    • Ability to undo and redo text changes with bluetooth keyboard shortcuts
    • Multi-selection to merge, delete or share has been added in the contacts application
    • Faster text selection along with a floating toolbar for text actions
    • Default apps UI
    • Direct share can allow you directly share stuff with contacts through the share menu
    • Much more granular app info
    • Native bluetooth stylus support
    • Split-screen keyboard
    • Better do not disturb along with repeat caller exceptions
    • Bluetooth scanning to improve location accuracy
    • Native flashlight API
    • Easier access to Multi volume controls(ringer, media, alarm)
    • Smoother volume scrubbing (credits to Jason Efstathiou)

Putting all those features aside there are also a number of under-the-hood improvements that seem to have had a very positive impact on both performance and power usage.

    • I had no idea. Figured it became standardized across all platforms the way it started with ATT and iOS back in the day.monospaced

I am still waiting for Lollipop to be available for the S5!!

People wonder why the adoption of new releases is slow, blame the manufacturers!! There stupid need to "customize' and add bloatware slows the world down.

    • Yea it sucks. LG and Sony rolled out lollipop with only minimal customisations, which was surprising. Best way to go, for sure.set
    • Got Lollipop on my Note4 this weekfadein11

Samsung has sucked, aesthetically, but at the end of the day it is true that you cover your phone with a nice case anyway.

I am looking forward to L and I'd like to check that Sony out. The new Moto X looks fantastic, I just wish someone would make a camera comparable to Apples.

    • Apple camera sucks. What are you on about?marychain
    • Apple camera shoots at 240fps, nothing else goes beyond 30 (that I've seen)formed
    • and where did you read it wasn't good? Every review I've seen puts it at the top.formed
    • the Lumia or whatever has like 5000 megapixels, and that's all that mattersmonospaced
    • Yeah, I think the Apple camera is top-notch. And I don't use a case. If i do, it's extremely minimal and thin.Jaline

Looks like I am going to go with the Galaxy Note 4 instead of iPhone 6 plus

I have an upgrade Nov 1st. from my Note 3 and I realized my main focus is screen resolution and camera technology.

The new iPhones have 8mp cameras while the Note4 has a 16mp camera also the Note 4 comes with image stabilization.

    The Note 4 has a display of 2560 x 1440 while the iPhone 6+ has a 1920 x 1080 display.

Note wins again. Bummed because I was looking forward to getting an iPhone again becayse of course they are beautifully designed, but I don't know, now the Note 4 has an all metal desing and is suppose to feel very nice too.

Naïve Question: What is the state of adblocking on android phones? I'm still hmming and hawing between iPhone and Android at this point, but I don't want to see ads on my phone.

    • only certain/apps games have ads in them now, which is mostly appearing in trial/free versions of softwared_rek
    • rooted ROMs commonly have ad services blocked in the hosts filezr
