Prediction for the rest of the season: In a very slow pace, Carol and Morgan convince King Ezequiel and his crew to go save Rick and whatever is left from the others. </end>
So much for an awesome start...

I think King Ezekial was a bit fruity for lack of a better term.
Star Trek did this a lot in all their series. - Follow up an intense episode with some lighthearted filler. I liked his "cards on the table" conversation with Carol at the end.

This is about where I stopped reading the comics.
- I never read the comics and won't until the series is over. I don't even want to read hypothetical spoilers.CyBrainX
- I found the Negan stuff unenjoyable; pointless sadism. Didn't finish the storyline (though I have the issues).i_monk
- @i_monk, it's worth pushing through. I found the Negan stuff a bit dull and essentially the Governor storyline ratcheted up; but it gets interesting again...Wolfboy

Crazy, even in movies you never feel that level of connection to a character! Plus, the whammy of thinking you got out of it with Red going.. then BAM! My favourite character gone, and knowing how it killed Maggie too!
Most brutal scene ever. So much more than gore, it was executed with cutthroat precision, that's what made it such a shock!

I think that Negan was justified in a way, rick and his team indiscriminately slaughtered Negan's men some while they slept, others were burned alive. Those people could have been his brothers, his wife, his children or at the very least his Glens.
- yes, it was justified to get rick's crew back, no doubt ... the extended sound and gore that the show's producers allowed is a little harder for me to acceptmonospaced
- Was it indiscriminate? I thought Negan and his people killed others before. Negan appeared to be part psychopath. His own people seemed scared of him.Jetserf
- It's been a while since last season but I thought Negan was terrorizing the group Rick and Company found and wanted to be trading partners with.Jetserf
- ^ Yes. That's how Rick even knew about Negan and went after them and took about a lot of them.CyBrainX

Ok, Maggie is free again :)

Too long and drawn out. The part with Glen was the worst. Yuck.
Maybe I'm going soft in my old age, but I think I'm gonna give the show a break for awhile.
- Yeah, but remember the source material. This is, for some, the climax of the comic and AMC knew everyone was wondering if they'd do it justice.SteveJobs

I watched it last night. Definitely brutal and unnerving. I get why people are reacting the way they are to it or calling it "torture porn." But I was able to look past the brutal graphic violence and focus a bit more on the overall fear and raw emotion of the group literally being completely broken and having no hope. Throughout the series they've been up against a wall before, they've lost people, but there was always some resilience, and some realization that they were going to figure it out.
But this just seems like they have no hope, which makes me curious for what direction the show goes in. Even imagining that they could fight back against some of Negan's group, how/where do they even start and where do they even find the mental strength to do so?
I was wondering how far Negan's reach is geographically. Could they simply escape and get as far away as quickly as possible? Will they be isolated, separated from each other and/or will it be hard for them to communicate to form a plan? Will some of them just decide to leave on their own with no regard for the risks to the others? Will they form a plan without the consequences to Darryl if they leave?
- grab Darryl ..
& make a run to the West Coast :)Ramanisky2 - the most logical option is to get the hell outta dodge. leave darrly behind (he did have glen killed after all).Gnash
- head north to canada where all the zombies are frozen solidGnash
- I'm surprised they didn't extract the location of Alexandria from themGnash

Kind of surprised no one believed Jeffrey Dean Morgan could pull of Negan after playing the Comedian in The Watchmen

Brutal!
I've never really like the big baddies they pick.
I didn't rate The Governor either.- Show Governor was barely a villain. They made him too sympathetic.DRIFTMONKEY
- governor wasn't brilliant at all. the comic version was brilliant! he chopped off one of ricks hands...cruddlebub

Wow.
I didn't have high hopes for this. First because I was really not feeling the guy they cast for Negan, but that's bound to happen with a character that was visually portrayed so differently in the comic. Second because this is AMC and while we've seen all kinds of gore, this is just a grisly display of death that I didn't think they'd be allowed to show.
Nope, I was wrong.
Great buildup and really great fakeout doing Abraham in at a mediocre level and then surprise!: doing Glenn's death nearly frame by frame from the comic. I didn't want to watch it because I I'm not into that kind of stuff but I was too curious to see how they'd go about pulling off something that stayed with me for days after reading it in a graphic novel.
- "Buddy, are you still there?"DRIFTMONKEY
- They captured the essence of Negan really well in this scene.DRIFTMONKEY

As a comic reader, I liked it.
As a show watcher, I loved it.

- I find his acting a bit corny sometimes. Like when he was put in the van. Staggering around with his hand up like he'd never seen lights before. Cringe.HAYZ1LLLA
- ya, he was trying a bit too hard to act all feralGnash
- ^ totally caught that toodopepope
- I don't mind his character, but is it me or does he act a lot with hands and arms?? It's like he's controlled by some puppeteer or something...pedroatqbn
- I like him and his character. Just from time to time he reminds me that he is an actor by haming it up.HAYZ1LLLA

Oh please I just watched it on youtube. It was a comedy scene between the eye pop out makeup and the guy that hit him saying "ohhhh mannn bruhhhh it is gross as shit!"
THAT is what people were crying about?? I have seen far more disgusting shit. Even in Black Hawk Down when that dude got ripped in half and was still alive. Did not come off like it was a comedy like this did.

The gore didn't really shock me for some reason, remembering folks that we've seen people being torn apart for the last few seasons. I LOVED the fakeout though with Abraham, fucking genius, and the bit with Coral's arm – i was watching with my son asleep in the next room just imagining if i was in that position. Fucking harrowing. Top job.
- i'm with you. no more violent than it's been every season so farGnash
- most of the time the hero's on TWD die from a walker attack but this human on human skull bashing was visually pretty shocking.Ramanisky2
- true, because we have empathy for the character. the actual violence is on par with other killingsGnash
- Yup and ricks crew have killed tons of people we just don't have that connection with them_niko
- and I cant recall any humans killed that didn't deserve it ... maybe the ones that they recently killed in their sleep who were part of Negans crew.Ramanisky2
- deserving it's a point of view...but yeah the ones in their sleep died unnecessarily i felt plus that guy that carol burned alive was pretty brutal_niko
- It's not the killing that is the issue. It's the brutal nature and drawn out way they showed it in the premiere. Made it as fucked up as possible.monospaced
- I can watch people get eaten by zombies all day. No big deal. Take pleasure beating a man to death caving his skull in with a bat? It's different.monospaced
- yeah agreed mono, and we had 7 seasons to develop an attachment to Glenn... Abraham's 'suck my nuts' made it a bit easier... that was great.BuddhaHat
- Sorry, 6 seasons + 1 episodeBuddhaHat
