How do you describe your job as designer to the unknowing public like your aunt, neighbor, grandma?
For example: "I am a visual problem solver'

I rather suspect both my grandmas couldn't give a rat's arse what I do; at least, not enough to actually pay attention to what I answer after they've asked the question.

A friend of mine tells his grandfather his work consists on "being in front of a screen making money clicking keys"

just say you "do computers"
my grandma is so clever, she had this term "computerman" for a while, I tried to tell her there are designers, programmers, accountants that all use computers, but she didn't take me seriously.
Now other people she takes seriously told her there are different specialties and she keeps asking me what I do. I tell her I'm a "computerman."
She hates on me and tells me stories about how some grandkid of her friends' is a graphic designer and tells me to look into that. It's not funny anymore.

Interactive/graphic designer. And then comes the question what's that? I make websites. Completely underestimating what a lot of us do, but do you want to spend time explaining and going off on tangents and yet failing to make the other party understand what it is one on a display? internet?
