21 year old girl visiting Israel shot in the face by the police while at a protest, loses her left eye.
- thats horrible but she got hit with a tear cannister not a bullet. Pretty misleading ukit. She was also an activist, not a tourist.FredMcWoozy

“Israel's decision-makers should have revived memories of Israel's own history. It shows just how short a historical memory the prime minister, defense minister, chief of staff, and Navy commander all have. They don't remember the story of the Exodus ship in 1947.
The British Mandate authorities imposed a blockade on the shores ofthe land of Israel and Jewish leaders believed it was their right and their duty to break it. The Jewish immigrants on the Exodus decided to forcefully oppose every attempt to stop them. The Jewish leadership wanted to arouse the world's conscience and gain a victory in the battle for international sympathy.”

fuck the israeli for calling their actions as "self-defense" and for the safety of israel and its people. how can it be called self-defense when you board a vessel in international water by repelling from a helicopter and wearing military gear??
so israel is basically claiming that if a stranger breaks into your home with weapons, it's not encouraged for you to defend your home, because if you do it's justifiable for the stranger to kill you because the stranger was acting in self-defense?? even pro-israeli can't deny that this is twisted logic, right?? naaah... i'm hoping too much
of course the world is just going to "condemn" the actions taken by the israeli military. the u.n. is just going to look the other way, the european union is just going to roll their eyes. and the u.s., well, they're basically israel's bitch...

I dunno. I think this time might be different. Times they are a-changin'...I think geopolitics is entering a new phase of instability after the status quo of the Cold War era, combined with the current economic meltdown and the rise of regional powers. The US has alot of influence here, but this will be an opportunity for Turkey, Russia and India, to name a few to start crafting middle east/oil geopolitics to their respective liking and not just kowtow to the American line re: the Middle East & Israel.
There be monsters here.

So...an American girl gets shot in the face by the IDF a few hours ago...
You'd think this would be front page news with an American media that spent weeks talking about Natalie Holloway's disappearance and the kid in the balloon. But there is literally not one mention in the mainstream press.
- Dude, it took ten hours for CNN to even mention the flotilla attack...TheBlueOne
- and that surprises you?__TM

I'd like to add something else - that I am passionately for the Israeli state existing. I am afraid that the Israeli government, blinded by ideology and conditioned by centuries of anti-semitism coming from all sides, does not realize *how close they are* to losing their country. They keep doing what they're doing, shooting first and asking questions later, and the world will force America's hand against them, and they'll be left to the wolves.
They have got to wake up and realize that they have to live with their neighbors, not kill them.
Peace in the middle east!
- I'm just pissed that this generational carry-over of bullshit keeps going. Don't hear the native americans bitching anymore..Hemogoblin
- maybe that's because their are none left.Hemogoblin

@bigtrickagain
I'm with you on the Israeli state, but I don't think any state in the middle east knows how to play well with others.
Look at the history of the area and you will see more wars and uprisings than other place on the planet. That has been a persistent problem for thousands upon thousands of years. The area is beset by familial, tribal, political and religious intolerance as evidenced by the multitude of political parties with every imaginable mix of liberal and conservative views that seem to contest every democratic election held in the region.
It's unlikely that peace will prevail in this area any time soon. A long term (50-100 years) PR war both overt and covert needs to be held to change the popular mindset in favour of peace and harmony. You need to find the right political and religious leaders to preach for peace and somehow nullify or silence the warmongers – not likely!

China - we are going to stick with guys who has oil until it runs out.

I think this explains some of the paranoia in Israel
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wiki…
Maybe why you see the popularity of far right nationalists like Lieberman who talks about deporting Arabs or banning them voting.

in the mean time, Israel's most influential daily newspaper is referring to their cabinet as "idiots" and calling the whole operation a big fiasco.

you fools just got Psyop'ed.
If you look at the time line of events of the incident and protests compared with the blogs posts you have to come to one conclusion...
Israel got set up and a major psyop campaign immediately hit the blogs and net. The blog posts, protests and the incident were all done within minutes of eachother.
How do you organize people so fast to attack the Israeli consulate in turkey?
How do you organize a protest in greece so fast?
I will tell you how. It was planned and most likely the unions helped.
- FredMcWoozy0
lets not forget the 1200 people they got together in europe to storm the israeli embassy.
I bet anyone here that those 1200 people work for a union and are communists.

Note that just right before the raid, everyone was told to wear life preservers.
IDF should have had none lethal crowd control.
But this video does seem quite damaging.

Out of some of the nonsense I heard today, UNION involvement in this was just the most absolute crock of shite i've heard.
- JSK0
Few also had gas masks on. I guess they thought that they were going to face tear gas.
IDF thought that these guys will just sit around and do nothing.
Except that when soldiers came down, they were already gathering around and waiting for them to drop to hit them.
Am I really agreeing with Fred?
I wouldn't say set up. They expected that the soldiers would land and stop them. Have some photos of protesters in tear gas etc. Just more organized in expectations for further publicity.
- ukit0
Does it really matter though? Israelis didn't have any right to board the boat.
- JSK0
So are you saying that they asked for it?
