I gave Green Room another watch last night and goddamn, this movie is one intense beast. Seen it twice before, and I still held my breath for most of it, it seems.
- Yeah, very stressful watch. Good tension.lemmy_k
- Great film. Have you seen Blue Ruin?Ianbolton
- Yep, loved Blue Ruin as well.elahon
- yeah both were goodGuyFawkes
- I definitely need to watch Green Room again. Such a creepy and frightening movie. The story feels perfectly plausible as something that could happen for real.mg33
- It's so good, and seconding Blue Ruin as well. I hope the actor does a movie with red in the title so he can have his own colors trilogy.garbage

https://www.theguardian.com/film…
..Christopher Nolan is a champion of 1570, the highest-resolution film format that exists – and Melbourne is showing the only copy in the southern hemisphere..
..With a running time of three hours, the 1570 Oppenheimer reel weighs 260kg. The copy in Morrison’s care is the only one in the southern hemisphere, and one of only 30 in the world...
...The platters that hold and feed the large-format film reels through the Imax projectors had to be widened to 1.85 metres to accommodate the sheer heft of the work. The technology accompanied the film on its journey, arriving in Australia on 53 individual reels. It was Morrison’s projectionist, David Booty, who spent two days “building” the film – sorting the reels, splicing them together and winding them on to the platters...
...Pre-sales for Oppenheimer in all Imax formats in Melbourne have surpassed the venue’s previous record achieved by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, with more than 21,000 tickets sold for Nolan’s film....
- Wish I could catch this in IMAX, the closest one is like 6 hours away. Still looking forward to it, though!elahon
- check out this site, great IMAX resource

- Balls, the closest theater that can play it is in fucking Canada. Me a few months ago "eh, I'll renew my passport when I need it".garbage
- lol Australia loves that southern hemisphere boast. Easy when you're up against Vanuatu and a few penguins : )MrT

- hahaaa so I wasn't the only one who watched it last night!% camerawork is still epic:) Tyler Rake is the new John McClane, he just can't die.sted
- Hemsworth really is nails all the action sequences as does the rest of the cast. Mind blowing choreography and set pieces.Ramanisky2
- i went in with the wrong mindset... i thought the story was shit...pango
- This movie is shit. No idea how this gets good reviews. Don't poison your mind and wast time with this crap.crazyprick
- Don't mind the pure action genre but somehow it's difficult to watch this guy, I keep thinking of superhero moviesyuekit
- true... all these buffed guys are hard to watch... remember when james bond was slick and groovy and elegant... now they are rambo dorks looking like to explodeneverscared
- from inside with their dumb ass muscle hustle..... still good action .. nuffin wrong with thatneverscared
- Some of you are no fun.
This was a blast.Ramanisky2 - +1 for old-skool popcorn actioner. Also enjoyed them both. Sometimes mindless is what you need. Hemsworth suits that to a T too.MrT

- i think cast was well assembled, people our age will recognize the old actors. chemistry between the 2 leads is good and I laughed out loud more than onceimbecile
- i don't have a jewish or black background to use as a way to say this movie is terrible, but i found it well made and better than most on netflix.imbecile
- It was good but felt like 75%, could’ve used more Eddieprophetone
- Since getting the jab I'm no longer human, I have no way of appreciating this movie, therefore I will avoid it.palimpsest

Saw Underwater last night. Thought it was really well done suspense/horror movie.
- Saw it in the theater and saw it at home. Much better in the theater.lemmy_k
- Make your home more like a theater then :) that’s what I didmonospaced
- how many people fit in your "home theater" 300 ? 400? because thats what a theater experience is mostly about... community.neverscared
- nah good sound and huge hi def screen
i only enjoy an audience in stupid or funny filmswoowahesque - @never, obviously it's just a home, but for me, it's about the quality of the picture and sound that makes the moviemonospaced
- I'd argue that when people speak of a theater experience, they're also speaking of the quality, the picture size and the immense sound and dynamics.monospaced
- Everything else about a theater experience sucks: hundreds of loud people, eating sounds, can't pause, super expensive, and on and on.monospaced
- I'm not even fighting, I'm just talking about how a movie in a good home theater can be as impactful as in a real theater if you do it right :)monospaced
- Good example is this movie. The “immersive” feel of a big screen and big sound really make it feel scary. A small tv and crappy sound kill that feeling.monospaced
- A good steak and bottle of wine at home is also great. But the experience of getting outside, being with people, random encounters, laughs etc trumps all.inteliboy
- Likewise for watching sport at home versus being at the stadium, or live music. Committing to an experience with a crowd can be amazing.inteliboy
- Triangle of Sadness for example was incredible at the cinema for the ship scene alone - at home would have been fun, but also dulled without the crowd reactioninteliboy
- Both for me, though I need a good movie to lure me out of my cave.YakuZoku
- I have a big TV and a great sound system. Theater has a bigger screen and better sound, plus darkness during the day, plus screams at the jump scares. Home...lemmy_k
- can never match that. It can, however, be great when you don't want the crowd and want to watch Mad Max 2. That one isn't playing anywhere.lemmy_k

Late to the party with Sicario, but I watched it last night and was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
- Was it what you expected? I loved it because I was genuinely surprised by it. I think I was expecting a more generic drug/crime/action. Way more to it though.Wolfboy
- Completely took my by surprise. I had seen the trailer last year and completely forgot about it as I thought it looked kind of same-old, glad I gave it a shot!!elahon
- def in my top 10 all timeRamanisky2
