^^ Just got word, after circulating the link around my music publicity office, that Die Antwoord is basically Da Ali G of South Africa. All fake, skewering the movement of middle class kids with apartheid supporting parents becoming Afrikaner posers, basically.

haha- we already knew they're art schooliesismith
- see maxnormal.tvismith
- wait their parents support IAN SMITH?ismith
- :Oismith
- my parents had no idea when they named me y'know. fuckn nasty coincidence in history classesismith

i don't see why everyone hates them because they did different stuff before. it's not like they were manufactured by some corporate entity, they've been performing for a decade. and it's funny to me that people label them as art school kids. Ninja is in his 30's or early 40's. would you call anyone else an art school kid after they've been doing their thing for so long?
do you guys hate actors too for playing different roles in movies? same thing.
- sometimes I hate actors... but naw I agree. I stick by die antwoord 100%ismith
- so you were a fan of mili vanili?762mm
- it takes on a different vibe. Their street cred is shot. And, in that genre of music, that's all that matters762mm
- they should just do broadway or a cable show.762mm
- street cred? lolz
lambsy - you obviously don't know much about the industry and how people perceive acts.762mm
- what happened to vanilla ice when people found out he was a fake wannabe from the suburbs?762mm
- but you can like what you like. It's you right as a human being.762mm

^^ yup and if they really played the music that those people listen to, they'd be shot for being "art school kids" but they don't. believe me you don;t want to hear that music it's horrible. But what they've done is taken that genre, added so fresh beats and samples to it and basically re-done it with good taste and turned it into awesome music.
Ali in the countryside, ali in the countrysiiiide! WHIDDABYNOW!!

it's all moot, if they enterain you, they entertain you. stop trying to classify art. ;)

I love the fact that 2/3rds of Die Antwoord has names that basically wouldn't fly in the US. Ninja is so generic and I'm sure there is some other signed rapper out there with the same name...and DJ High Tech? Well I think Dj Hi Tek might have something to say about that. This is part of what I love about Die Antwoord though. So goofy and fun.

i hope they get signed stateside. aftermath or death row should totally pick them up. these guys are more "real" than a beyoncer or a rihannaz. they toil over a hot windows personal computer crafting future beats and further lace those sweet sounds with gangsta rhyme styles. just imagine them touring the US with the icy hot stuntaz. mind = blown.
