I like Cargo in the sense that it's incredibly easy to update.
But at the same time, I already kind of miss the personality alot of people's personal portfolios had....

okay i understand now it is for people not able or wanting to build their own webs..

I'm currently using core to update my folio (not up yet) - finding it extremely easy to use and allows for quite a bit of customization. I am liking it a little more than cargo just in terms of being able to add different types of functionality (jscript).
Both have their merits - I will post mine as soon as it's ready ;D

I would like to state, that I just recently moved my site to cargo.
I DO know how to build websites, my previous site was featured in 2 magazines. As I started adding more and more work it started to became pretty slow, and these days no one waits over 40 seconds for a site to load.
I gave cargo a try, it was so easy..
I'm able to upload new projects and current projects daily, it might look similar to other portfolios, but I can focus on more descriptive analysis on my projects, I was just going to have the cargo thing on the side, and then I said fuck it..
and decided to make cargo my main site.I still design sites for other people, but when you are busy a good CMS is essential if you want to keep your folio up to date.
cheeeers!
- WHY WOULD IT LOAD FOR 40 SECONDS? YOU CAN MAKE DIFFERENT PAGES NO?Coffeemaker

I'm with Meeklo et al on this. I've got a very simple site (currently on indexhibit but moving to a customized wordpress site that looks very similar to the current design) and i don't think it's hurt my prospects at all. in fact, i've had more inquiries since launching my new site a few weeks ago than i've had in the months leading up to the new, simple design.
clients could care less if you're using cargo or indexhibit or wordpress or flash. they want to see your work and they want to see it right away. they don't want to guess how they can view your work or spend time "exploring" your site or "experiencing" the web through your portfolio.
now, on the other hand, if you're a student or just getting started and you don't have a lot of work to show, by all means, it makes great sense to showcase your skills with something innovative or "different".

I find Cargo fantastic.
Folkert and Josh have done a tremendous job so far. They have both been very helpful to their users and listened to a lot of requests for improvements through the forum/msgboard www.cargocollective.com/talkThey have added quite a lot of new themes since the beginning and just recently the popular Spacecollective theme is available in two versions.

My (outdated now) Cargo site:

i've been eyeing cargo for a while and I think I'm going to go for one soon but I was wondering if there are any file dimension limits. I have some work that is really looong and would look good if you can scroll to the right sort of thing but I wasn't sure if they restricted that.
- for my personal portfolio sitemolo
- you can edit the size allowances in your CSS - I think its also as unclicking a box in the CMSidentity
- so its not like they restrict length to like 1500 pixels or something?molo
- i dont BELIEVE so - im sure if you email them with that question they could answer it with more authorityidentity
- they're quite helpful and readily availableidentity

In retrospect, the only thing I actually hate about Cargo is the social aspect of it. You should be able to turn that off.
- you used to be able to. there is a new 'following' button that hangs out on the page. i dislike itbaseline_shift
- yeah. seems weird. needless competition/advertis...Seanbot
- you can turn it off in your settings > go to Display Options > then its the last box on the listidentity

Are you able to add Google Analytics to a Cargofolio website?
