Any period of the past is automatically compressed into the best bits by the media - the nostalgia for the 60s and 70s for example. This was experienced by a small number of people in London while the rest of the country was actually pretty shitty.
Twenty years from now we'll look on this period of history in the same way and be nostalgic about excellent music, film and the what the internet did.
PS you're on the internet now so you can't really get angry at it!
- I agree about nostalgia - but I think it is possible for things to get worselukus_W

I think that there's a significant amount of really quite mediocre / shit music that's being touted by the music press as decent / good.
It seems to me that the music industry associated with 'alternative / youth music' gained so much momentum over the past 8 or so years (and grew to such a vast size) that it can't possibly stop -> and in the absence of decent + original acts they'll take any old shite and profess it to be the next big thing.
One act in particular that I think is abysmal is 'little boots'. What a load of fcking pish. The woman is devoid of any talent -> her lyrics are completely and utterly puerile, and the actual tunes sound like they've been stolen from John Shuttleworth's repertoire (minus the entertainment value / wit).

I have to applaud this quote by airey: after 20 it's no longer teen-angst. it's just being a miserable fuck
...so perfectly true. Honestly. Put down the Sylvia Plath book and step outside of your 20-something navel gazing. I mean this in the nicest way.
If you are so disappointed with things, use it as a catalyst to create what is of value to you...be a creator, be a participant rather than a passive bystander. These are incredible times...there's so much exciting (and scary) stuff happening in the world; there are also many artists who are creating interesting work addressing the times. Open your eyes and ...whats that saying, be the change you want to see? yeah, that.
- It's best not to jump to assumptions mate -> and I don't think there's anything wrong with being critical of the drivel some media outlets try to feed us.lukus_W

- Life coaching could be fun though - do you have a book out ;)lukus_W

Fuck addressing the times. Misery loves company and I'm more than willing to 'giggle until the flames grow higher' to provide a friend inside for a companion.
Only boring people are bored and you sound it, try exerting your mind a little past the "fucking LOL cube" push yourself as high and/ or low as you can go... relationships, work, drugs, whatever. See what the fuck you're made of instead of trying to shun trends to feel better and/or more elite when you're at the root of the problem.

CKY - To all of you
The mirror doesn't look like them
I guess it never will
What would you say
If I took a piece for me?
Happiness is your best friend
It doesn't appeal to me
Have you ever seen me?As I talk it lets you down
You're finally used to me
But they never talk your way

Thread title should be "What's wrong with me?", with correct punctuation, of course.
2009 has done nothing wrong.

If things suck it's because you (we, me, us, them) aren't getting off our lazy asses and making cool stuff.

2010 is going to be a good year. Its goodness is already infecting the second half of 2009.
