$250 too much for bad logo?

Okay, so I'm a design student and I've just started doing some freelance work. Web design is my preferred outlet, but I don't want to turn down identity work. I know I have a lot to learn still, so I'm not exactly looking for a critique, but if you're compelled to do so, that's cool.
All I really want to know is, do you think I can reasonably ask for $250 for the work I've done?
The client ended up choosing the worst logo, of course, so that's what makes me feel kinda bad. But I shouldn't, right? $250 is cheap, right?
Here are the different logos I created:
- visionary0
the top two look like assholes, when combined with pacific "rim" foods paints a stunning brand.
- fooler20
which ones did they chose then I will deiced if the price is right?
- visionary0
charge 250, that should be fine
- johfiner0
They chose that really cheesy, baseball looking script with the extended "f" that arcs underneath the word "pacific." It's the light blue one in the second image.

I'd say, don't ever show them one you wouldn't be prepared to see through. It's like a dog chewing your shoes, they always go for the one that will wind you up the most...
I'm with visionary, the mountains look like the strongest route so far. Have a look in single colour too, get the form right then explore colour.
My 2 cents for a Saturday morning!

johfiner:
No, don't feel bad, you deserve every penny.
$250 should be considered cheap, not expensive.Take his money

Thanks guys, $250 it is!
- Douglas0
can you take that as a jumping off point and refine it for another $250?
- sublocked0
whyyyyy did you even offer them the choice of the baseball script one? never EEEEEVER offer them the worst possible selection. they always pick the shitty one.

$250- seems really steep for a Korean deli.

next time, establish your price with client before starting.
have a little confidence in your work and that $250 could be $1000+ no problem.
remember with logos you are handing over full rights to your creative for the client do whatever they want with it. cost should be more than yours hours x rate.
$250 is way too cheap.
- Thanks, I definitely need more confidence in promoting myself. This helps!johfiner

hmm, i thought the top 2 look like assholes as well, and the mountains look like piles of shit. That comedy gold alone is worth more than $250, maybe $359.99.
But yea the mountain logos are cool so they're are worth $624.99. Maybe it's not the right direction for the client. I'd say the brush script is worth $85.99, but they have to pay for everything anyway which comes out to $1345.92.

OK i didn't see the asshole until you guys pointed it out, but I did catch the pile of shit right away with the brown mountains.
But in all honesty, I was in your place not very long ago. You have to charge what you're comfortable with, but at the same time don't be afraid to charge what you're worth. My rates went up over time as both my skills and confidence increased.
$250 is totally fine if that's what you're comfortable with, but it'd be cheap be a lot of people's standards on here who have been doing this stuff for years.
- Thanks for the reply, this is definitely helping to boost my confidence!johfiner

the bamboo ones are working best.
maybe play off that. do more research. draw logos, hundreds of them if you have to. that always spark an idea for me.- draw with pencil and paper, no computer...dirtydesign
- do you have scientific studies confirming this is the best approach for every brain configuration?Pupsipu
- He did say "...for me."
This is helpful, thanks.johfiner

I think $250 is fine for what you've done though I hope you threw out just as many logos before showing these ones (and I'm worried you may not have considering the inclusion of the dreaded brush script ;) ). Usually I'll design around 20-50 logos at least in rough stage and refine from there to show a range of styles but still trying to keep quality up. the number you show depends on how you can best sell yourself and can vary from logo to logo or client to client I find.
I don't mind the circled mountains even if done before but I think the 2nd bamboo shows promise. Don't be scared to make the text below it much wider than the circle - its pretty bold so it can go much smaller. Try an all caps with a crapload of kerning and see what happens.

I just posted this yesterday. A link to 10 Common Mistakes In Logo Design: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/…
Yours, sorry to say, would be No. 8. But, like you said, you've a lot to learn (as all of us should still), so I thought this link might be helpful. But you should have known better than to show something you don't stand behind 100%. Because of course, the client may choose that one : (
And there world is full of logos using mountains in circles, not just the Prudential mark.
Maybe try something using the bamboo and perhaps integrating that into typography, but please, try to find typefaces that evoke the right feeling for company and what they do.
So good luck (and take that cash)!

250 is fine if you only spent 10 hrs on it. try and step up ur game, 50 per hr should be lowball...
