Hey guys, I'm not up to speed to on this thread, but I am a runner. I just got a pair of the Nike Vomero 3 for Christmas and they're incredible. What kind of shoes do you prefer?
- VectorMasked0
Nice. Join the next challenge if you can. All levels are welcomed.
Those Vomero are pretty nice. Recommended by many.
I am currently using the Nike Air Max Turbulence which are awesome and just bought a new pair of Nike Shox Saya which are also pretty good but that are waiting in the box for when my current pair gives up on me.
- I have an overpronation problem and this Air Max turbulence haven been the best pair to alleviate my problem.VectorMasked

I wasn't a Nike fan until the Vomero 2. Then I had to get the 3s. I have the Vomeros, a pair of Asics and a pair of Solomans for trail running. The Vomeros dominate.
I have a Nano and the plus, but I cant' get an accurate calibration. Does your sensor calibrate properly?
- VectorMasked0
Yes. never had issues with the calibration until yesterday that tried a recalibration since my pace seems to have improved.
Just try again man. Some people suggest to go to an actual measured track. Another suggestion is to not do the recommended 400 metres but to run a lil more like 600-1000 metres.
And of course, *NEVER* attempt calibrating your sensor on a treadmill. It would not calibrate at all or you'd have the worst readings ever.- Thanks. I will try the 600-1000 distance. I have measured the 400 on a track a couple of times and it always says I've done .75 when I've run a mile.adren
- run .75 when its really been a mile. I only run outside. Do you do any trail running?adren
- no. I just do my runs on a treadmill or next to the beach :o)VectorMasked
- I do at least 1k to calibrate and use mapit to track the k.gradiate
- VectorMasked0
and oh yeah... the readings are never spot on... they are just approximates. It's all just for fun and to have an *idea* of how your pace is and how many calories one might be burining, etc...
- adren0
Good to know. What's your outside temperature Vector?
- VectorMasked0
it's cold in here. It's been between -5 to 4 degrees celcius up here in Canada. It does feel like -10 with all the wind and the light showers we get every night :o(
- Wow! I've run here with the wind chill at 2 and that was tough. Today it was about 28.

i hurt my fucking back running 3 days in a row to beat this + a challenge from my boss the same week. so now i haven't been out for over a week
- That would make me go crazy. I have to run everyday or I can't sit down and concentrate.adren
- VectorMasked0
Well this is just great!
The damn sensor does not want to get calibrated.
Did a 8km run but the damn sensor read it as a 6.1km. No breaks no slowing down. :o( At one point the damn sensor read that I ran a single kilometre in 12 minutes when I actually had the speed to complete this kilometre in 5:30 mins. This fricking blows. And to make things worse, It snowed a little today ;o(
This won't help at all in attempting to rerererecalibrate the sensor.- are you sure the sensor was not loose on the shoe?
maybe you just need a new oneMeeklo - No. Everything is like before. Sensor has not been removed from the shoe. Receiver is well connected... weird.VectorMasked
- are you sure the sensor was not loose on the shoe?
- Meeklo0
no, you ipod starts to show a little graphic on the screen saying that its about to die, and I used like 5 times I think (about 5k each time) before it finally died.
I don't remember exactly how the icon looked like but it was something unusual on the screen, maybe red with some sort of % level that keeps coming down on every run, so if you don't see that you should be fine.
Also, you can order sensors separate, you dont need to buy the entire kit, I think its a few dollars cheaper from nike+.com
(I saw a video on youtube that showed how to replace the battery on it as well, I think you needed a knife or something like that
- interesting. Good to know the sensor can be purchased separately. Thanks meeklo. btw, I still don't get battery warnings.VectorMasked
- by that I meant no icons of any kind have appeared.VectorMasked
- Meeklo0
I logged a bit over 10k this morning, I think trying to switch music tracks on a stop light I hit end work out, and then start right away so on my ipod it reads like 1 run, but the voice counted as it was just a pause on the same run, but it logged as 2 different runs..

- I saw them at a store the other day, they are a bit loud but I would wear them, are they comfi?Meeklo

- lol. I tried them at the store and are indeed comfy. Ugly as fuck, which makes them cool. Just like the Volvo C30.VectorMasked

hahaha, his finger is bleeding!
- HAHA!! that's funny. That's like a big *fail*. I'd rather grab a 20 dollar bill from my pocket for a new one that injure myself...VectorMasked

I feel your frustration Vector. My first 6 mile run of the challenge didn't count because I didn't hit "end workout" properly. Stupid gadgets. So, I gave you 5 days on me V - its on like donkey kong.
- haha! I know what you mean. I made many nOOb mistakes at first. Remember being all excited after a 6km run...VectorMasked
- which was awesome for me 8 months ago. At the end I was like "Sweet! Pressed the button and realized I didn't even start itVectorMasked
- Not even the music had started. But I was all pumped simply for trying to get back in shape. Total dumbass here :o)VectorMasked
- My error at first was that I always forgot to end my workout. This is why my pace is still in 6:44 or something.VectorMasked
- yeah, I thought i did a sub 9 min mile today, then when i tried to end my workout, it took 5 minutes. So frustrating. I tried your reboot technique, which made the wheel work better when i started, but I had the same issue when I ended my workout. :( I'm going to take it into apple and see if there's anything they can do.flutter

What does everyone listen to when they run? I love electro music, I find a lot of great 1 hour mixes here:
http://palmsout.blogspot.com/I have some great mixes to trade if anyone is interested. I'm even down for making a "haulin ass" running mix if anyone wants to trade.
- VectorMasked0
fantastic, flutter!
Will def get some stuff from there.I personally like to keep it on the heavy side. My nano is filled with heavy stuff... to get me fast & furious! ;o)
Among the bands I have:
Deftones
Tool
Meshuggah
NIN
Aphex Twin
SOADListen a lot to a mix Meeklo uploaded by Makoto & Deeizm & some "thanksgiving" mix somebody (forgot who) shared a while ago.
Also have some Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Portishead, The Dandy Warhols, Cibo Matto for when I not feeling like listening to distorted guitars.
- flutter0
Some oldies! Did you listen to Orb, Autechere, The Future Sounds of London, Squarepusher, or orb? (little fluffy clouds was my fav). That stuff brings back memories. heheeh You might like the clickhop stuff that came out a few years ago. Danger Mouse's Gray album was pretty sick, and prefuse 73, Jimmy Edgar, Dabrye, and Daedelus are all newer artists that remind me of the older stuff, its just more glitchy.
Right now I'm digging these artists:
La Roux, Little Boots, Ladyhawke, The Raveonettes, Kaskade, Chk Chk Chk, M83, Friendly Fires, Metronomy, Sam Sparro, PNAU, MGMT, Neon Neon and way too many more to list. I am sickly addicted to music.I have 3 mastered mixes that are hour long sets if anyone likes this genre of music. Just holla and I'll upload. It really gets the blood moving.
- Thanks! I completely forgot about Squarepusher. Always wanted to get some of their stuff and always forgot to... :o)VectorMasked

I am sucking at this so badly. Getting up when it's dark has never been my thing.

OK so I may have found a solution for the pesky nano wheel problem. I think it is the humidity here in georgia and the cold that messing it up like you suggested vector, so - I rebooted the nano, then wrapped it in a paper towel and put it in my pocket. When my run was over, I wiped off my hands with the paper towel, then used the wheel to end my workout - and viola! it worked!
