the video is now up at his blog. pretty superior quality, but realize dude was shooting with an array of gear that costs 500x the camera, along with a professional film crew. the most impressive thing to me is the lack of grain at 1600 and 3200 iso.
i don't know, i think video on SLRs is a pretty stupid thing overall. let's keep people great at certain things instead of meddling in mediocrity with a different field because it can sell better. doesn't make much sense but i'm sure the people that get rich off it don't care.
- "This camera will sell for approx. $2,700 - and perform better than many $100K plus video cameras out there"sikma
- how will this promote mediocrity?sikma
- it's not better than 100k cameras, though. you still need a shit ton of equipment, and the camera can't attach to a mic or a steadycam rig.colin_s
- steadycam. it's mainly that i think experts in video should be videographers, photographers do their thing. etc.colin_s
- those sound like minor hurdles. fact of the matter is this camera can capture what a 100k camera cansikma
- it's mediocre for sure.robotron3k
- its still a shit hot camera, the video is a bonus!slappy
- why can't you mount it to a steadycam? has the same thread as a tripodlambsy

What do you think this does to the price of the old 5d? The non Mark series one? I am hoping it plummets.

heh, that's a nice feature--but nobody, no actors, no production crews, no lighting guys, no producers, nobody is gonna take you serious if you walk on the set to shoot ANY type of video with a DSLR. And no, it doesn't perform better than 100k cameras, not even 5k cameras. It's compressed and limited video -- let's not even get into it's audio limitations (that's why there is not sync audio)....
Don't buy this camera because of this demo video.
- +1. Paves the way for future cameras maybe, but now is just a novelty. Stick with a real camera for video.ifeltdave

pretty decent quality i'd say

Grab the few “camel toe” frames while you are at it.

i'm pretty stoked on this cam. been wanting to upgrade my 20d for awhile. i don't like the fact that cameras are given digital video features but i'd imagine in five years they all will. meh.

he mentions in his blog that all those stills were shot between ISO 1600 and 3200...... the still FRAMES are insanely free of noise at those high ISOs..
I must save $2700+ now and get me one of these...
- pr20
cooler gear, same shit... i mean the engineers are living up to the expectations of delivering better and better product and... he shoots a wedding with it???

Are you telling that film was shot with a camera?
- yep, crazy eh?kingsteven
- it doesn't say so in specsarsyusha

I think what makes this so appealing is that the money myself and others have put into SLR lens's can now be used for very creative video shooting.
I wanna see more tests of panning the camera as the rolling shutter sux in the D70, check this: http://s477.photobucket.com/albu…
