This is a TV ad from kezza it transpires. Nice one.
I think it might be a good idea to say we only post one project per post and to give a bit of background to what it is, what it was for, how it was produced and when, plus any other info... otherwise its just pictures of old stuff, and that's not as interesting as knowing a bit about what it is. I totally skipped this ad by Kezza by, but since Rasko asked, I now know it was a TV ad, produced whilst working as Creative Director at Leo Burnett. That's far more interesting!
- But When? eh? EH????SkyPoo
- it was a year ago, about 4 creatives worked on it. I worked on the orignal concept, and then worked on the TV, and....kezza_2
- the online excecution, which this images is a screen grab of. Also worked on this, which was part of the same...kezza_2

digdre's post of the cityscapes and planes n explosions reminded me of this project ....
Not the project itself, it was a game we were building to promote the site - something that tied Scotland and NY. It was a bowling game where you bowled a haggis towards the skyline of NY then the haggis would knock the buildings down.
Of course the first two buildings were the twin towers.
In the middle of building the game, im sitting at my computer and I get a message from a mate hoss (h69.net) telling me to check out the CNN site and see whats happening in NY.
Someone had just flown a plane into the twin towers.
Then a second plane.Needless to say - the game got scrapped there and then!

K, I've dug through a 'portfolio' page from when I moved down to London.
This is the frontage graphic I was employing on it (flash nav up top, so it cascaded into that space)
(I think this was the first project I raised my head up to ask for a crit for on NT)Bear in mind, I had no design education at this point (or since, for that matter), and working for a newspaper company, most of these things were turned around in one or two days, start to finish. I'm showing these as laughable or nearly there (just not quite) kind of proofs of my ineptitude.
Not saying I'm much better now - but I have learned to spend more than the barest amount of time needed to push something out.
These are from early '99 - 2000:
(pushing the limits of <20kb gifs, since '99)
(this was a tie-in for the 'paper site)
(!!! ha aha ha !!!)
(mmmm... indiscernible monotone - lovely)
(Rover! ha ha ha)From around this period, here are a couple of stupid little playthings..
(looksee free font! No punctuation marks beyond a full stop! Genius!)
(kinda relevant now we're constantly discussing the LHC)This is me, around late 2000-early 2001, in a small graphic for an online game I was involved in for Bravo - no idea whether i did this graphic or not, and it was someone else's art direction.
(added in 'handsome devil' tag for portfolio - no idea why I thought that was a good idea)For the end of that game, here's some l33t photoshopping (shows one of the characters, enjoying the fruits of his Blagging)
I've never let my horrific embarrassment stand in the way of a good laugh - so laugh away.
- For further justification - the really early stuff was '1 or 2 days' with all the other stuff I had to do - update newspapersNairn
- (2 of them, 3 on friday), make 2 banner ads each day, etc - so really, a few hours on each at most.Nairn
- I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TOP IMAGE!!!! How did you generate the artwork? How did you translate it to web?SkyPoo
- and everything had to weigh in at 'no' bytes - that portfolio image was an exercise in ekeing detail from <100kbNairn
- That's it, as was (ignore jpeg compression) not sure if there's any 'concept' there - beyond 'make it messy' and orange.Nairn
- Actually, I lied - that page weights in at <150k. Guess broadband was taking off then.Nairn
- Haha that Rover ad is classic.JerseyRaindog

- This is nice. How did you produce it? When? Where were you working? Story?SkyPoo
- Stock photography? did you shoot it? How did you do the notes? did you work on Quantel? or was it psd era?SkyPoo
- hey, it was while i was working in the communications department at boeing. i took the photo...ephix
- and made the notes in PSD with paths. it was for a orchestra sponsorship deal that boeing had.ephix
- The original photo did have the paper plane (printed with musical notes on it) and i just photoshopped out the hand that was holding it.ephix
- that was holding it. taking a photo of actual flight proved too difficult.ephix
- Nice.Nadooy
