I thought Healthcare under this new plan wasn't a tax increase... ?
"Supreme Court says health mandate's a tax"
http://money.cnn.com/2012/06/28/…"The federal government does not have the power to order people to buy health insurance," Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for a divided court. "The federal government does have the power to impose a tax on those without health insurance."
Yet over and over again... Obama says it's not a tax increase:
- Four members of the supreme court says it's a tax increase. Five say it isn't. Believe what you want.aaux
- so which is it then?PonyBoy
- If you're against the mandate, it's a tax increase. If you're for it, it's not.aaux
- So... the Chief Justice calls it a 'tax'... but it's... not a tax... ?PonyBoy
- Call it a fine if it makes you feel better. Were you thinking of not having insurance any time soon?DrBombay

Of course Romney can now be said to have implemented an identical tax increase in Massachusetts while he was governor... since he's the originator of the health care mandate

I don't understand that conservatives aren't happy that people who choose not to have insurance will now need to pay a fine/tax for that horrible decision. And that money will be used to pay for their care. I still do not agree with the mandate, we should have single-payer universal healthcare. Invest in yourself and your country.
- If the mandate said gay people had to pay twice as much they'd support it.aaux

I don't understand what seems like a simplistic view: 1. people with jobs have health care...wtf? and 2. if everyone has health care then it will take twice as long to see a doctor or get care.
It's equally simplistic to suggest that these people are just idiots, and yet...

I want to create an insurance company that has $50,000 deductibles and is 100 bucks a year. Should be cheaper to throw away money on my insurance than pay the tax. And they can still get all the free care they want by just opting to pay in cash and stiffing the doctors.

This is really a win for conservatives. They either don't know why, or don't want to admit it. This is their market based solution, and it will provide private health insurers with a much larger pool of people. I would have preferred they ruled it unconstitutional so the only solution left would have been single-payer.

Ted Nugent speaks out against Obamacare
"Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead."

Judge Orders Idaho Newspaper To Identify Anonymous Commenter
Limits of free speech in the online age were upheld this week, when a district court judge in Idaho ruled that a local newspaper, the Spokesman-Review would have to turn over the identity of an anonymous commenter who has been sued for defamation by a local Republican Party official.
“While individuals are entitled to the right of anonymous free speech, this right is clearly limited when abused,” wrote Judge John Patrick Lester in the ruling, handed down in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.
Now the newspaper has 14 days with which to appeal or turn over the identity of the anonymous commenter, who posted on Huckleberries Online in February under the pseudonym “almostinnocentbystander.”
