Sometime I totally forget I'm in an inter-racial marriage. Easy to do in NYC I suppose. My children will be bi-racial. How to deal with that freaks me out sometimes - I mean, I'm fine with it, but how will THEY deal with it? How will society treat them? How do I control that as a parent? We were out with another couple the other day, the wife was Japanese, the husband was Japanese/Argentinian and they live in Japan, but are living in Baltimore for the year..there 2year old daughter was adorable, but because her father is 1/4 Argentinian, in Japan she is gai-jin. Although that is where she is born, raised and acclimated to the culture/language. In America she is Japanese.
It's a strange world...especially outside the globalized centers of NY/LA/London/London...it warps your view of how accepted this stuff really is...
- sorry to break it to you bro but most likely you daughter will be stunning and you son very handsome so they will have...pr2
- plenty of sex and STDs at way too young of age.pr2
- They'll be fine... look at me, I'm bi-racial and hideous.Point5
- i've got two bi-racial kids...girl and a boy...half white, half indian...they're gorgeous...(i'm biased tho ;)exador1
- Halfies are hotties...... the hottest though is black asian latino mix. YumJKilla77

the message "be white to have sucess" is a weird message in my eyes. especially in regions that suffered colonization

BlueOne - my wife is Korean and she does *not want to raise our kids in Korea due to race issues. Since they won't be full Korea she's worried they'll be treated poorly (well, more she *knows they'll be treated poorly, not worried). It sucks because I'd love to live in Korea. I can deal with racism, but for kids it's crappy.
- Couldn't you send them to one of the dozen international schools? Are you in Seoul?i_monk
- Yeah. I don't think it's quite as bad in Japan as in Korea with that shit, but still it's an issue.TheBlueOne
- My brothers fiancee is Korean - said the same thing too...TheBlueOne

It's alive and well. Boggles my mind, really does. I have seen some pretty disgusting displays. Made me ashamed to be human.

Being part Asian, I know about this issue. My dad is very dark and my mum is very white so I am mix of both (Pantone 729 C ;) so when I go and visit my family they all look at me and say that I am very fair and they like it but then again I look at them and I like their dark skin so I always find that funny.
If you look at Bollywood you will see that most of the actor there are fair skinned, unfortunately you don't see that many dark skinned women in Bollywood.
I think its shit when some women in India and other countries in Asia have issues with getting married due to having dark skin. We are what we are and that is what counts.
- Bollywood starts are lighter, but a lot are from Northern India, where skin is lighter anyway.Jaline
- It's Southern India where there is darker skin. You're right that there are more lighter-skinned people in those films, but there are other film industriesJaline
- are other film industries for Southern India and Sri Lanka.Jaline
- The fact you know your Pantone color is just so fucking cool.TheBlueOne
- True but not as mainstream as Bollywood, my dad has some old classics at home ;)PSYKHO
- But your right!PSYKHO
- Its good to know your Pantone skin color ;)PSYKHO
- Yup, Bollywood is hugely popular compared to other film industries. It's either first or second to Hollywood.Jaline

i find this to be very sad...she's such a pretty girl and gets dissed just for being a notch over on some lame colour/cultural spectrum? and to get accepted she needs to bleach her skin?
i once read an article regarding how black women in american advertisments almost always seem to be a shade lighter than the men in the same ad or commercial, and how it propagated racism within their community. i should dig it up...it was interesting yet sad and frustrating.

It's actually got nothing to do with race. It is a question of class. In India the paler you are generally the higher class you are. I beleve it comes from their caste system where the higher ups are generally paler because over generations they weren't the ones working the fields.
It was the same as western culture until a few years ago when it became desirable to be thin and tanned. In the past that was considered "swarthy".
- Sorry that last paragraph didn't make much sense
scrap_paper - sure it did....love the word 'swarthy' as well... :)exador1

I mean, she did look better. sexier even. She was just trying to get her pussy hit.

Sorry, but anyone who would or wouldn't hit on/hit/be nice to/be polite to/try to marry their daughter to/work for/employ/house/touch anyone because of the color of their skin is really a bit of cunt, to put it mildly, any culture that enshrines or instills or practises that isn't worth taking part in, or being 'culturally sensitive' towards, including those fuckers in india who are treating their daughter badly or those shits in Korea. How come all foreigners are such bastards and we put up with it ?
- xhanubis0
LOL its not racist its what we call a color problem. Lots of people esp from the lower classes do what we just called "bleaching" they have very light faces and thats it.
India like Jamaica is a post colonial society that had its values trust down its throats for a very long time by a dominant white ruling class and as such in these society lighter skin is seen as desirable by some who have not been able to cast off the mental shackles.
Desiring lighter skin is an aesthetic choice, like getting fuller lips, larger boobs etc.
Racism is a whole new hydra.

The guy in that video at the end was like "Oh yeah baby, I can't wait to throw a burka over you and beat you senseless for being outside not covered up... yeah I just wanna take you home and smack a hot frying pan over your face and make you mop my floor baby..."
