Around the time 300 came out, half the guys I knew started growing beards, although only a few have kept them this long. Probably unrelated to the beardfest you're witnessing.

My friends in Erie, Pa throw an annual beard banquet around Thanksgiving time. This has been a tradition since late 90's.
I grow a beard every winter, vowing to keep it through summer, but if anyone knows the goddess of heat and humidity in Pittsburgh...Another friend has a beard where all the fur points west.

I grew a beard about this time last year... I just let it grow for at least 2-3 months... It turned out it was really black and really thick. Didn't look cool at all. Must be because of my portuguese ancestry.
When I finally shaved, one of my co-workers told me he was glad that I shaved and that he was worried that I would get stopped at airport checks. I took that really offensively.
Also, another time I had a goat-tee, and someone said "got the evil goat-tee look" which sucks because I have a really friendly face.I don't know what to do, I want to be hip... any suggestions?

I shaved my beard off last week. It's a tradition now – new year, new beard. I've had a beard since before this thread started.
