when you were in a band like Joy Division you've pretty much made ut so you can do anything you want.

reflection of society, no?

I thought everyone was aware that it is just a money making trick. This is so fuckin funny. You often hear people joke about it in interviews. They even call themselves knob twisters in some cases.

No one can tell the difference. No harm, no foul.

you might be right, but that doesn't mean it's fair.

Do people not realise that non of these celebs or big names play the music. Most of them will freely admit to it. They are only there to get the punters in the door. The manager isnt going to risk them fucking up the set. Its been going on for years jeeez hello !!.

Here's one from Steve Angelo / Swedish House Mafia
(sorry Akrok!)
- who is this fucking douche?lvl_13
- what we got here is a glorified knob twister.lvl_13
- he probably spent months working on mixing that set, that much is clear by how he memorized all the movementsmonospaced
- anyone that knows anything about that music knows basically all of those tracks. unless you were joking.lvl_13
- I was talking about his mixes but if he didn't create those then I'm at a lossmonospaced
- hah. no worries, mig. i really don't like them. except the name.akrok
- hahaha I figured you were in the band for some reason (the name maybe)Miguex
- where's his fucken headphones?toe_knee
- no headphones needed.meffid
- "Hey the camera is coming up to me, better twist a knob"meffid
- FFS all he does is spin other artists music why the theatrics?utopian

I'm not a violent type, but if I ever go to a club and he's there I'd have trouble holding myself back from giving him a good hiding. Especially after a few dozen vodka's...
Fucking egg.

Apparently Tommy Lee likes a bit of the old Dj fakery too, I wonder if he and Hooky share an agent!...

And chossy, there also these guys:
which I do consider in a way musicians as they use the turntable as an instrument.
- Scratching sounds shit though... the sound of turntablalism died in the 80s... the best djs can do it, but use it sparinglyjohnnyrebs

I like New Order more than I like Joy Division. I'm not into the slow, depressing music as much as I like the "poppy", dance music.

bollocks meekio
DJ's mix tunes add tunes on top take inspiration from music they have heard and create a completely different tune from that they also create their own beats and synth loops and weird sound effects to splash all over they tracks they are mixing with, a DJ does not just change records a DJ fuses different tunes and creates tunes in order for his or her fusion to work.
When designing a logo and 'tweeking' an existing font to the way you want it to be any different?...
Oh and by the way meekio things have moved on significantly since baleros roller disco mate.
- I was talking about the straight DJ that just plays records. Not the ones that produce. Thats a different storyMeeklo
- Yes but you need to understand that there's a place for everything....just because someone doesn't produce music doesn't mean that they're totally invalid
DaveO - I do understand, I just don't agree w a guy selecting tracks on a club is more important than a producerMeeklo
- Thats why I said, there is talent out there, just one msg above, see it? :)Meeklo

I disagree with the previous statement.
May I correct it?
You say: " people make music but it's DJs who get it out to people"
I say: "Musicians make music, Djs get a name for themselves playing their tracks, without musicians the Dj does not exist."We don't need a dj to hear music, the dj is like the middle man, which is the same spot that a friend, a relative, or any stranger on the street that has recommended me to check out a band has.
Yes there is talent, and there is lack of it going around, but like I said again, I will stick around and listen ONLY if the DJ plays the music I like to hear. Wouldn't you?
- How would that friend find out without a DJ playing it? You sound so arrogantjohnnyrebs
- and of course you only stick around to hear the music you want. You wouldn't go see a band you don't like would youjohnnyrebs
