http://crucial.com/ is the only place you need to go. Good ram and great prices straight from the source.

big news! yeah it's always been like that. just get it from somewhere else. crucial, kingston are sure shot. as long as they have lifetime warranty (which most do) then you're good to go. check out newegg.com they have good prices usually. just make sure you get the correct ram module!!

Crucial is definitely the way to go since they make it so easy to find your Mac model and what RAM it runs on. I just got 4 gigs for my MBP for $160. The exact same RAM, spec-for-spec.

I got my 4 gigs from OWC. and I love it. It seems to go lower by each week. Hesh.

either way, i heard that all the ram comes from only a few makers and then other companies (like crucial, kingston etc) brand them in their own...just like current point n shoot image processors... so the only major difference is in price.

what PC manufacturer doesn't jack up the price for extra RAM? Apple is not special in this regard.

yo ev, if the ram was the correct specs, then are you sure you put it in properly? all the way? cuz i had some kingston on a 3yr old pb g4 and it was fine...till it got stolen (but thats a diff story). If it's not well placed, it will cause all sorts of problems: kernel panics/crashing, failure to boot, weird sounds... etc etc etc

If you live in Canada, check out http://canadaram.com/
That's where I got mine (although I never actually used it because Apple sent me extra RAM instead of the extra HD I asked for).
